(My heart goes out to all of those fighting against or trying to stay safe from the virus, we're in this together, and although I'm sure many of us have probably lost someone along the way as I have, I know we can get through it. <3)

Christmas morning was peaceful, considering your parents ended up sleeping in, giving you some extra time to snuggle in your bed with Jack and Miles. Miles had climbed up in-between you two during the night, and when you woke up Jack had his long, lanky arms tangled around both of you. It was an adorable sight.

You could feel your lips stretch into a wide grin, you simply couldn't help it. You felt content, happy, even! This moment was so serene, it made you wish time could stand still for a while.

You found yourself simply lying there in silence, listening to the slow breaths of the two sleeping beside you. It was almost hypnotizing, nearly lulling you back to sleep, but you knew you had to stay awake.

It's an important day, after all.

After a few more minutes you decided to wake the two up, starting by gently scratching Miles' head until he twitched. He let out a big yawn, then he sleepily looked up at you, his tail wagging a bit as he smiled.

"Good morning, buddy." You giggled quietly, then you reached for Jack's head.

Just before your fingers could make contact, Jack's expression started to change. His brow furrowed, and he seemed to be slightly gritting his fangs.

He looked... scared..? Angry..? You couldn't tell.

"Don't... leave..." You heard him mumble almost silently. If not for your focus already being on the clown you probably would've missed it.

Your heart sank. He must've been having a nightmare...

"D...Don't...p-please..." His voice got even quieter, but you could tell he was stressed.

He needed to wake up.

As if reading your mind, Miles rolled himself over to face Jack and crawled up to his face, letting out a small 'ruff' before he started licking all over the clown's face, somehow avoiding his long nose with ease.

You nearly snorted but you managed to keep it in, just smiling proudly at your thoughtful companion.

In just a few moments, Jack's expression slowly changed and he flinched, gradually moving his arms before his eyes shot open and he made sounds of surprise.

"Ack--! Wha-?!"

To your surprise, Miles kept licking Jack's face, and the more Jack tried to wiggle back, the more playful Miles' licking became.

You had you hold a hand over your mouth to keep from laughing too loudly, and eventually Jack started laughing himself.

"Pff--Pahahahaha! Okay! Haha! I'm up, I'm up!" He cackled, using one arm to pull the pup off of him, and Miles had a satisfied smile on his face, something you hadn't expected, but were beyond excited to see.

Jack used the back of his free hand to wipe some slobber off his cheek, raising a brow and smirking at the culprit before glancing at you.

"What was that all about? Did you tell him to do it?" He inquired with playful suspicion.

You could only shake your head, knowing if you tried to speak you'd start laughing out loud, and most likely wake your parents.

Jack tilted his head, clearly unconvinced, but then Miles ruffed and jumped up again, getting a small lick at the bottom of his cone nose. Jack snorted, shaking his head and patting the dog's head.
