Chapter 29

The next day Nicole brought Tre back over to the house again and this time Josh was there.

Josh starred at Tre and he sat across from him.

Tre just sat there nervous.

"What's your intentions with my daughter?", Josh asked.

"I really like her", he said.

"See that's where you messed up. When it comes to relationships, actual relationships you see a future with that person. You want to treat that person like they're the only person in this planet... you both are too young to date", Josh said.

"You dated at my age.. Ms. Carter dated at my age", Tre said. "What's the difference between us and y'all"

"I'll tell you the difference. Girls?? see...they want the real deal. At least most of them do. Guys.. ehh.. they just looking for something to.. play with and then dip", Josh said. "I was that guy at your age.. Ms. Carter was that girl at your age.. I don't want to see my daughters' heartbroken. And if I ever find out about y'all having sex or something, I'll kill you"

Tre was quiet for a moment. "Sir.. I don't mean any harm but.. I assure you that I don't plan on breaking her heart. Heck.. my hormones are running wild but when I'm with her sex isn't even on my mind. I was always just happy to talk to her", Tre explained. "And she knows for a fact that I don't talk to other girls"

Josh sits back in the seat. "Where you see yourself after high school", Josh asked.

"I'm not sure yet. Probably work on cars or I don't know something that's hands on. Fixing things", Tre said.

Josh nods. "You in a gang?", he asked.

"Nah", Tre replied.

"How about your parents. How's their relationship", Josh asked.

"I don't know my dad", Tre said. "But I do know I'd never treat Nicole, or any girl, like my mom's boyfriend treats her"

Josh was silent.

Tre looks down with a sad look then back at Josh. "Where's the bathroom?", Tre asked.

"Walk out the kitchen and it's on your right",Josh said.

Tre walks out and Asia joins Josh.

"So, what do you think?", Asia asked.

"I don't know.. he sees some type of abuse at home.. I know what that feels like and I some how told myself I would never be like that but yet.. I fucked up with the most wonderful woman I ever met", Josh said. "I just don't want him to be like me"

Asia was silent.

"But.. other than he seems... good actually. Better than expected. Nicole did a good job", Josh said.

"Ok.. so would you mind her dating", Asia asked.

"Nah I don't mind it, but I have some rules", Josh said.

"Can wait to hear this", Asia said.

"They ain't that bad", Josh said. "But Umm.. how are you and Jamal?", Josh asked.

"Doing great. I met his daughter last night.. don't know if she likes me. But I did meet her", she said.

"Dang, he must be really into you", Josh said.

Asia nods as she stays quiet for a moment. "Let's go in the living room", she said getting up.

Nicole and Tre sit on the couch.

"Okay so this is how it's going to go. Y'all can date, be friends, go out or whatever but.. I have a rule or two", Josh said. "No kissing, no hugs over five seconds, if y'all wanna go out on a date or whatever I'll be there or Nicole's mom will be there. We won't be next to you 24/7 but we won't be far away either. And most of all, keep the door open in the room", Josh said.
