Chapter 21

Later that night Josh and Jayla came to Aisa's house. josh and Jayla pulled up at the same time and got out their cars.

"You coming to get the kids?", Jayla asked.

"No, Asia told me come", Josh said.

Jayla makes a face.

"She told you to come at this time too?", Josh asked.

"Yea", she said.

"Something must be wrong then", Josh said as he knocked on the door.

Asia opened the door. "Oh hey. Didn't expect y'all to come at the same time", she said as she let them in.

Josh and Jayla walked in the house.

"And I didn't expect the both of us to come", Jayla said. "So I know it's something you need to tell us"

"G ain't here yet so I guess we gotta wait for him", Josh said.

"He's not coming", Asia said.

"What happened with y'all", Josh asked.

"They broke up", Jayla said.

"It's complicated", Asia said. "But he isn't coming because he already know"

"Before me?", Jayla asked.

"Hell, he know shit about my own kids for me", Josh said. "I ain't surprised"

"Don't do that", Asia said.

"The shit is true", Josh said. "And it's fucked up"

Asia rolled her eyes. "Whatever Josh", she said as she walked to the stairs to call for Nicole and Jakobi. "Kobi and Nicky! Get down here please!", she said.

Asia walked to the middle of the living room and said, "sit", to Josh and Jayla.

Josh and Jayla sit down.

Jakobi and Nicole walked downstairs.

"Yes?", Nicole asked.

"Sit", Asia said.

Nicole and Jakobi sit down.

"Umm what's going on?", Jakobi asked.

"Nothing.. well something but nothing", Asia said. "Nothing that any of you should be worried about?"

Everybody makes a face.

"Okay.. so I went to the doctor a week or so ago and they believe I have a tumor, they believe it's benign", Asia said before she was cut off.

"What's that? What's benign?", Jakobi asked.

"It means it's 9 times out of 10 not that serious. It hasn't spread or anything", Asia said.

"So you have cancer?", Nicole asked.

"Well.. not necessarily.. I don't know. Just know I'm getting surgery and treatment and everything will be fine", Asia said.

"So you're not going to die?", Jakobi asked.

"As far as I know, I'm not", Asia said.

Jakobi nods.

"But I just wanted to let everybody know that. You two can go upstairs and finish your homework", Asia said.

Jakobi went upstairs and so did Nicole.

"Do you have the same cancer your mom had?", Jayla asked.

Asia nods.

"So it is a possibility you can die", Josh said.
