A myriad of multi-coloured lights illuminated the still bustling streets of Sydney. Despite the fact that night had fallen the energy of the city didn't seem to fade as the sun set but rather shifted. It was a new kind of crowd that ventured out at night, away from the broad daylight and instead lived for the neon-lit darkness.
The chilly, damp mist had begun to roll in off the ocean bringing in the powerful smell of salt that began to wash away the scents of yet another day. Ahead of the pack of casually dressed angels, the blonde-haired human led the group around the crowded streets with practiced ease. It was almost like a dance, the way she avoided the packs of rushing people, unlike the angels. Despite their supernatural abilities and obvious warrior like grace, the two archangels and their angelings stumbled around the shifting crowd, colliding with an unfortunate stranger at least a few times a minute.
It was a relief for all parties when Ami finally paused outside a large glass revolving door. Gentle ambient music drifted from within the large concrete tower while through the vast windows a variety of shops, both retail and food outlets boasted their wares to the crowds of yet even more people.
" Where are they all coming from? Do humans not require sleep anymore?"
Michael questioned in exasperation as he watched the throngs of people with something akin to distaste. Jade was clearly grumpy at their predicament while Jene looked frazzled at the sheer proximity of the overwhelming masses. Raziel, as per usual simply observed everything cooly as he stood unnaturally still and silent.
" Welcome to late night shopping in the bargain district! A perfect place to get everything you guys need."
Ami chuckled out as she took in the expressions on her company's faces.
" Just stick close to me and you will be fine, it may be a little daunting at first but I have no doubt that you will grow accustomed to the crowds. This is Sydney after all..."
The bubbly young woman entered the glass doors and quickly stepped out onto the other side, much to the angel's amazement. At her gentle beckoning, Michael stepped forward with a fierce look plastered across his face as he took in the mechanics of the revolving door. While he studied the monstrosity with a concerning level of intensity Jade next to him sighed in what seemed to be exasperation as she stepped forward and stopped.
Immediately, one of the large glass planes of the sliding door collided with her sending her sprawling across the shiny polished floor where she was pushed from her seated position around to the other side where a startled looking Ami quickly pulled the now furious looking angeling out of the door's proximity.
Jade slowly got to her feet, rubbing at her arms as she viewed the door with such an intense loathing that even Jene shivered, he knew that look. That meant revenge. He was distracted from watching what his sister's next move was however by Michael next to him that had rushed at the doors with an intense ferocity.
Clearly Raziel had predicted this next move as the archangel calmly gripped his angry brother's arm and serenely moved them through the revolving door to the other side without incident. With a knowing look at Jene, the archangel inclined his head in a 'come on' gesture as Michael knocked his brother's grip off with an almost sulky look.
At this Jene calmly walked through the revolving door, marveling at its engineering as he exited onto the other side. Michael seemed a lot calmer now that he knew his party was safe from the ' enemy of the revolving door' while Ami just seemed amused. Jade and Raziel alike both seemed to be angry, but who could tell with the carefully masked facade Raziel had carefully constructed over his features.
Calming instrumental music drifted through the cool artificial air of the indoor shopping center, providing a false sense of peace amongst the overwhelming atmosphere.
" First things first we need to clear up what we are going to get. Clothes, food, and basic everyday things like electronics and the like are a must. To adjust to human society, you need to behave like humans...to a certain extent."
Ami added in hastily at the expressions of blatant disbelief on her company's faces.
" Anyway, there is an Aldi and Woolworths here...as well as a reject shop. Let's head to those first as a solid starting point."
