Early Mornings

Despite the fact that it wasn't yet 7am it was clear that the first day of the weekend was going to be a gloomy and overcast day. Out on the balcony, Ami sat with Jade and Raziel as they silently observed the world below them, each lost in their own thoughts. The steam curling off their hot drinks melded seamlessly into the salty sea mist still blanketing the bustling city as the calling of gulls pierced through the chilly air.

Jade was the only one brave enough to be inside the apartment at the moment. He had situated himself on the couch in front of the television. His back to the pacing Michael whose tense and erratic energy had them all on edge. Gabriel was still in meditation as she communicated with realms beyond the other's abilities as Raziel had explained to them all. All the Archangel's had one another's abilities...they all had the potential to use one another's talents. However, the archangel's chosen speciality was based upon their natural talents, characteristics and personality.

While the archangels could use one another's abilities they would not be as effective compared to the Archangel of that speciality and their power. It was why Gabriel was currently communicating with various energetic planes despite Raziel's ability to gather any information. Gabriel was not only more patient and empathetic than Raziel but she also had a keener eye for detail which she constantly reminded Raziel of. The Archangel of Divine Knowledge was a more logical and rational being, similar to a computer which made him perfectly suited to his speciality.

It was both Raziel's intense attention to detail and Michael's finely tuned senses that had them both switching their attention simultaneously to the television. Sensing their sudden interest Jene silently turned the television up as the local new's channel cycled through their report. The footage that flashed across the screen was unnerving, especially due to the nature and frequency of the content.

It was clear to all company, both human and angel as to why Gaia was angry at humanity and why Earth's vibration was lowering. Violent and disturbing footage of various current wars and global conflicts flashed across the screen electing a wince from the empath Ami. As they watched the recurring footage Michael and Raziel were both quick to point similar things out.

" That man..."

Jene trailed off as the on-screen reporter cut him off.

" Samael Diabol, the newly appointed minister of Conflicts for the United Nations speaks of his experiences on the various war fronts and being thrown into the deep end with his assistant Az."

" What? What is it?"

Gabriel questioned as she entered the room and focused her gaze first on the screen and the on the remarkably still Jene.

Jene seemed to have to visibly force his gaze away from the screen as he met Ami's eyes across the room. Somehow she seemed to understand and nodded gently. It was almost like Jene knew this news would disturb her and was giving her a slight heads up before he dropped the news.

He met Gabriel's intense gaze for an extended and silent pause. The Archangel of Communication seemed to get the message loud and clear based upon the widening of her eyes and the slight paling of her already fair skin. She swallowed visibly before taking a deep breath and stretched her shoulders back before she addressed the room.

" That man...Samael. That is the man Jene saw awhile ago who introduced himself as Lucifer and tried to stop Michael from awakening. That...that man if Jene is correct is our brother. Considering the fact that our angeling protectors were chosen specially for this mission I have no doubt that they would know who Lucifer is and could identify him."

The importance of this information sunk heavily into the energy of the room as Michael spoke.

" As alarming as this is...I have a more localised question that is perhaps easier to answer. Where is your angel protector Gabriel?"

Gabriel stared unblinkingly at Michael before she looked downwards and out the window.

" I do not wish to be rude...but considering the fact that Jade woke me prematurely I believe that they have either not arrived yet or they are trying to find me but are struggling as I have already been awakened."

Jade glowered at this while Michael held up his hands.

" That is okay alright. No one is being blamed. No one is in trouble, this is simply another mission. We need to find Gabriel's angeling protector as I am sure they are feeling quite lost and we must look after our own."

" Aah...guys?"

Ami chimed in as she gestured to Raziel who had his eyes fixated on the screen. His posture was rigid with his hands squeezed tightly shut as soft silver light seemed to emanate from them.

" Raz...?"

Michael's words faded out as Gabriel went to sit next to her clearly agitated brother.

" It is Lucifer...and he is in the perfect position to complete his mission. He is the head of Conflicts in the UN, the main peace governing body on Earth. How he got there I do not know but it seems like he currently has an advantage over us. He is in the perfect position to not only corrupt nations but to subtly feed and encourage conflict and war. I believe he is trying to ensure humans wipe themselves out and his assistant...that is proof in itself."

The other occupants of the room stared at the television as Michael once again chimed in.

" His assistant?"

" Look closely at his neck the next time there is a close-up and you will see. We need to get to wherever they are as soon as possible."

Following Raziel's advice, all the angels and Ami kept their eyes peeled to the screen as once again the news cycled through various footage until they did a closeup interview with Samael and his assistant Az once more.

Sure enough, clearly extending upwards from his plain t-shirt was a dark tattoo, vivid even against the mocha colouring of Az's skin. It took a few passing seconds and both Gabriel and Raziel's abilities to confirm what they all feared.

" Samael, Lucifer our sibling whose one aim is to bring humanity's demise currently is head of conflict for the main peace governing body on work...and to make matters worse he currently controls, well he has basically kidnapped Azrael. Angel of Death and our sibling. The Archangel of Change and transition."

The reality of the situation left a metallic taste in the air as the energy in the room became as gloomy as the day outside. Jene and Jade both naturally gravitated towards one another as the nature of their mission set in while all three Archangels stared at one another with uninterpretable expressions. Ami simply sat still mindlessly sipping at her now cold coffee. They were all a little shell shocked.
