Jene sputtered awake, his parched throat was raw and grating as he painfully lifted his heavy eyelids. The bright blue sky stretching wide above him was harshly assaultive on his sensitive eyes as he attempted to move slightly, only to wince as the warm concrete beneath him bit at his muscles. Nearby the chorus of bird calls and a peculiar crashing sound had him sitting up quickly as he grit his teeth against the discomfort.
He carefully looked around as he waited for his equilibrium to kick in. The intriguing sight before him seemed to be the source of the thunderous crashing sound he had been hearing. The blue and yellow stretch in front of him moved continuously. The sapphire coloured water churning as it crashed and then retreated from the golden sand, only to repeat the process all over again. He shifted to get a closer look only to fall back into strong hands.
" Woah...Woah. Calm down Jene, just take it easy for a little while okay. Welcome to Sydney. This is what I believe is called a beach."
Michael paused. His voice softer this time as the mesmerising surf was reflected in his striking, otherworldly eyes.
" I give you my sincerest apologies Jene, for it is my fault that you are feeling this ill. The joy of flying after such an age caused me to temporarily forget that you are only an angeling and that I am an archangel. I'm afraid...well my body can adapt to anything, even in this mortal plane. The speed and the air pressure, the changes in altitude had no effect on me yet...I'm afraid it damaged your lungs. Don't worry I healed them as best as I could for the moment but you might be sore for a while."
Jene simply squeezed Michaels wrist reassuringly. It was all he could do. He was exhausted and sore, despite feeling the slight full-body tingle as his angelic energy worked on healing him.
Michael cleared his throat roughly his golden eyes reflecting the stunning beach before them as hundreds of black silhouettes dotted the beach interacting and playing in the water or sand.
" I found us a place to stay Jene. Humans have quite an interesting society I must admit. I simply manifested the correct amount of money and suddenly we own a place of dwelling. It is as simple as that. Their currency seems to drive their daily lives."
Jene winced slightly as Michael picked him up swiftly, as if he was simply a feather as they trekked throughout the sparkling city. Towers of greys and blacks loomed over the congested roads and speckled sidewalks. Shimmering glass cascaded down the tower's side reflecting the brilliance of the bright sky above them as the radiant blue contrasted brightly with the luminance of the racing clouds.
Michael almost waltzed his way through the bustling city as cars and people alike almost collided with them, seemingly oblivious to the Greek God-like specimens dressed in casual summer attire hurrying their way throughout the city while sporting angel wings. Michael must have felt his confusion as he muttered telepathically.
" I cloaked us to their mortal eyes, we are invisible...to them anyway, animals are another story altogether. It does not matter though, we are almost there Jene...hold on please."
