"Morning, darling.", Harry said as he walked into the kitchen. "You're up early."
"Couldn't sleep, dad.", his youngest son Albus replied.
Harry frowned and sat next to his son, "Are you okay, Al?"
Albus nodded. "I guess."
"Talk to me, please?", Harry was concerned, to say the least. "You know I love you, right? Unconditionally."
Albus smiled as he looked down at the dining table. "Love you too, old man." He teased his father.
Harry chuckled, "Don't try to change the topic here, Albie."
"Don't call me that."
"Then talk to me."
"I-", Albus sighed. "You won't get it."
"Try me."
"Polly", Albus muttered.
"Come again?"
"Polly Chapman.", Albus said.
"Who is she?", Harry asked, trying to hide his smirk.
"A girl in my year, she's a Gryffindor and she hates me.", Albus said.
"I'm sure she doesn't.", Harry said.
"She told me that she was happy to hear that there is a potter in 3rd year, but when she found out about the Slytherin son of The Chosen One, she was disappointed.", Albus said.
'Bully', Harry thought. 'She sounds like a bully.'
"What about her?", Harry asked. "Do you like her?"
Albus nodded, "Yeah. She may come across as a bully to you but she isn't.", he said. "She is fierce, she literally says whatever is in her mind, she isn't scared of anyone, she is smart and she challenges me to do better."
Albus reminded Harry of himself at this point, "oh?", Harry prompted him to continue his love rant.
"She is pretty hot too.", Albus said slyly. "Remember when I travelled through time?"
"Yeah, that's my every other Saturday, why?", Harry asked sarcastically.
Albus rolled his eyes, "Well in the alternate universe, she challenged Scorp to blood ball."
"Al, please don't take this the wrong way, but isn't she the one who bullied you for not being well.."
"Like you and James?", Albus asked. "Yeah, in 1st year, then she said she was pretty impressed by what I did with the whole Time-Turner. She apologized to me, it took me some time but I forgave her and we became good friends."
Harry was happy to hear that, "That's good then."
"Yeah.", Albus said. "I don't know if I should tell her that I like her."
"I think you should.", Harry said. "I wish I had come to my senses earlier, I would've had so many more years with your mum."
"I am not planning on marrying her, Dad.", Albus said. Harry saw his son blush for the 1st time, and it made him laugh.
"Of course not, Al.", he said. Harry looked at his and took a deep breath, "I wish I had done things differently in my life, especially when it comes to your mom. I wish I was a better friend, a stronger boyfriend and at times a better husband.", Harry said. "I have so many regrets, and I don't want you to have any. I don't want you to think what would've happened if you had asked her to Yule Ball just a few days before the day you did, or what would've happened if let her in before she started dating that stupid Dean–"
"Dean?", Albus was confused at this point.
"Everyone had a Dean, Al.", Harry said, making Albus even more confused. "That's not the point– the point is, you should do what you want to do. So twentysomething years from now, you won't regret not asking that fierce girl out."
"She might hex me.", Albus said.
"Bet it would be worth it."
Albus has found a new level of confidence, he was determined and he was ready to take action, "I will write her a letter." And with that, he stood up.
"That's my boy!", Harry said as he patted Albus' back. "Go get her!"
"Yes!"
"Oh and Al?"
"Yes, dad?"
"Thank you for sharing that with me."
"Of course.", Albus smiled at his dad. He turned around and saw his mom standing by the door, "Oh, 'ello, mum!"
"Hello, little one.", Ginny said as she hugged Albus. "My brave boy."
"Yep. Bye, mother."
Harry and Ginny shared a laugh as Albus went up the stairs.
"How long have you been there?", Harry asked.
"Long enough...", Ginny kissed Harry. "Morning, my love."
"Morning.", Harry grinned.
"I would've said yes to both by the way.", Ginny said.
"Huh?", Harry asked.
"Yes to you if you had asked me to Yule ball before Neville and yes if you had asked me to be your girlfriend.", Ginny clarified.
Harry smiled, "I feel like if I had taken you to that dance, you could've either fallen out of love or make me fall in love with you."
"How so?", Ginny asked as she started making some tea.
"Well, if I was not over Cho by then, you would've hated me.", Harry said. "But I feel like if I had let you in and if I had even tried to get to know you better, I would've fallen in love with you."
"So sure of that, are we?"
"You're the only thing I've ever been 100% sure about, Gin.", Harry said. "You're the only real thing."
"And the kids."
"They're a part of us, they are here because of you-us, but mostly you. It is all because of you."
