"Ladies, gentlemen, and non binary people," I begin, I can't stop the wavering at the start of sentence. I fucking hate assignments like this.
What do you expect? It's fucking nerve wracking, standing up and preaching your opinion in front of your entire class, and teacher.
"I am here today, to discuss with you one of the most ambiguously talked of topics in the world," I continue, "and partly because, well, this is school and I have no opinion here."
I earn a couple of chuckles at that.
"Let's start off with the simple question: what is respecting other people and their opinions? This might as well be a rhetorical question.
"To begin with, this shouldn't be a question in the first place. Everybody was put on this Earth, and everybody is unique; whether that be by sexual orientation, gender, sex, nationality, religion or something else. We're all different, but it seems that some people cannot accept that.
"So, you don't think being gay is right. Why not? All right, fair enough, now SHUT UP!"
The class jumps at my sudden yell. Mr Aizawa raises an eyebrow.
"Keep your opinion to yourself, or better yet, respect them. If you have an ounce of human decency, you'd let people live their lives in peace, and do what they want to do. It's their life! Not yours!
"But noooooo! Some people just have this irresistable urge to annoy the HECK out of these people who haven't done anything but try to live their lives! Leave them alone! They are not directly affecting you in any shape or form! Just... just go off!
"So, bottom line, what it means to respect people, is to let them live their lives how they see fit. Don't try and step in to "fix it" if you thinks it's wrong, because YOU DON'T MATTER! You need to mind your own business, and let people do what they want! And only if it's a matter of right and wrong can you step in! And if you want to do that, become a Hero, or at least a police officer! No one is going to listen to you, standing around in the streets talking about the 'good old days' when black people were discriminated against, gay people were harassed and beat up and women were told to get back in the kitchen!"
I throw the papers in my hand, "IF WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A FAIR AND EQUAL WORLD, WE NEED TO RESPECT EACH OTHER! AND IF YOU WANT TO BUILD A WALL TO KEEP OUT THE MEXICANS, THEN YOU'RE A DICK!"
A roar of thunderous applause comes from my peers, some people even standing up. I take a sweeping bow. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see Mr Aizawa slowly picking up his pen to grade me on my speech, with a look of mild shock on his face.
I turn back to the front, and grin wildly at Katsuki, who's clapping very slowly.
Well, at least he's clapping.
A small smile etches itself upon his face, as he looks at me with an expression that says "didn't think you had it in you".
Well, I did.
Now watch me fail this assignment.

"I got a B," I sigh exasperatedly, as I stare gloomily at the paper in front of me.
"Eh?! (Y/N), that's really good!" Denki objects from the seat to my left. "I got a D."
"D for dick," I state, and Denki chokes on his own spit.
"(Y/N)!"
"Oi, Frizzy," I raise my head, and blink wearily at Katsuki. "What did you get?"
