28. Paradise

Thomas's POV

I woke up in a tent,

My eyes had to adjust to the light as I stretched and got to my feet,

God everything hurt... I cant remember a thing...

I peeled back the tent flap and looked around at a perfectly white beach, the waves crashing gently along the shore.

I saw a large gathering of people,

As I approached I saw Minho, his eyes filled with tears as he noticed me and I sped up my walking as I felt tears in my eyes to,

I crashed into him, pulling him into a strong hug,

And just behind him,

"Newt..."

I murmured,

He gave me a tierd smile, he looked good as new apart from the sadness in his eyes,

I dragged him and Minho into a group hug, letting go to give one to Brenda and Gally.

"We have come a long way together"

It was late evening when Vince started giving his speech,

All the survivors sat around drinks in hand as Vince talked and strolled around the fire,

"So many have sacrificed, so much to make this place possible."

I looked at Minho and Newt who sat beside me,

"New friends... new family..."

He raised his drink,

"So heres to the ones who couldn't be here..."

I raised my glass, fresh tears in my eyes as I thought back to my friends...

Newt had tears rolling down his cheeks to and Minho gave him a solid pat on the back,

"Heres to the friends we lost... this place is for you. It's for all of us. But this-"

He pointed to a large stone behind him

"This is for them. So in your own time, in your own way... come make your peace..."

He raised his drink higher,

"AND WELCOME TO THE SAFE HAVEN!"

We all cheered, sipping our drinks, pulling each other into hugs,

Newt smiled but it quickly disappeared as he stood and walked towards the stone

Minho and I followed,

He picked up the nail and rock and slowly with delicate and shaky hands carved,

(Y/N)

Minho placed his hand on Newts shoulder,

"You know she loved you Newt... she would want you to be happy..."

He just nodded wipping at his eyes,

"...she promised me happily ever after..."

I nodded, shoving my hands in my pockets and trying not to cry,

"She she gave you happily ever after... now it's time to live your life to the fullest... for her..."

I told him,

He nodded looking intensely at the first name carved in the stone,

He reached his fingers up, brushing the dust off of it,

"...I wish I had the chance to tell her... that I loved her to."

He smiled through his tears and I couldn't hold it in anymore,

I chuckled at him, crying to, and finally Minho broke,

"She was a real shank!"

He snickered wipping at his eyes with his sleeve,

"Yeah! Remember how she scolded us all for calling dibs on Teresa?"

"Or the time she almost ripped of your head Thomas!"

We all laughed through the tears and Newt gave a sigh,

"...Thank you for everything (Y/N)..."

He placed his fingers once more on the rock and then wipped at his eyes again,

"I dont know if I'll ever move on, I dont know if I'll ever find as much happiness as I did when you were here..."

Minho and I shared a look,

"...but I'll keep living, I'll keep smiling, I'll take care of these two shanks-"

He ruffled my hair and Minho pulled him into a hug by his shoulders,

"And we'll look out for him to dont worry (Y/N)!"

Minho reassured the rock,

"Yeah, and together we'll take care of everyone... and each other..."

I told the stone,

Newt sighed, smiling up at her carved name,

"I love you (Y/N)... thank you for giving me my
Happily
Ever
After"

A/N: and that's it!! I'll probably do a thank you chapter after all this, but I sincerely hope you enjoyed this story,

It was very touching and I hope u dont hate me for the twist I added at the end
