I opened my eyes when I heard Alicia crying. I got up and walked toward her crib but she wasn't in it. I almost fell into a panic but I seen landon aside the crib swaying back and forth. He was trying to calm her but she wasn't having it. But just seeing him trying made it 100x better. He could be the father I want her to have. I walked over to them and reached for her. When in my arms she glimpsed into my eyes and began to calm. She held a strand of my hair in her tiny little hand as I rocked her back and forth trying to smooth her. Once she slipped away into a short nap I layed her down and went toward the kitchen. Landon followed close behind as I grabbed my breast pump. "What are you doing with that thing?" I chuckled at his clueless comment. "It's a breast pump, to feed our child." He looked wide eyed and sat down. "So we have to talk to them today." He said as I pulled down my shirt to start pumping. "Yea I know but I need you to help and they have to meet Alicia." He turned away not wanting to stare. "Yea I know." That's when he got up and approached me. "Laylay you don't understand how much I missed you. I didn't have anyone to numb the pain." I'd never really thought of things from his point of view I see how I hurt him. "Yea I know but we can't get into that right now, I'm going feed Alicia and she should fall back asleep we can go to the house then." He stepped back and I could tell he was stressing.
We walked toward the house after noticing both his parents were home. Landon walked in first and was greeted by his mother from the kitchen. "Hey honey, where were you last night we missed you for dinner?" We walked into the kitchen as she was turning around and she fell silent. She looked at landon then at me and back again. I could tell she was in shock just as anyone else would be. "Mom get dad we all have to talk." She took a step back giving me a hateful gaze. "Oh don't we!" I could tell we were about to get it.
She called his dad into the living room and he was just as shocked if not even more. We sat down and before they could ask any questions I started explaining. They didn't interrupt me or stop me, the only part I left out was Alicia. That is until they asked me. "Why did you come back?" That's when I slowly told them about prom night excluding details. "After I found out about my father my instinct was to run and that's what I did. I wasn't thinking of anything else and I met someone. He cared for me but soon after I discovered I was pregnant, I still couldn't come back. Everything hurt I couldn't just come back." His parents were in a state of shock but his father spoke up. "You denied him the right to his child's birth. You denied him the first few moments of FATHERHOOD!!" I cowered at his harsh words, I couldn't deny it was the truth but it hurt. "I'm sorry. I've apologized to him countless times I want nothing but the best for my baby that's part of why I cam back. I was cared for where I was but I didn't have landon and I knew I couldn't live without him." His father quieted down and his mother shyly spoke. "We will not allow you to stay here. Your not welcome here at this point, you may only have visitation for Alicia to see her dad. I adored you so much but you've hurt my family and that's where I draw the line." Her words hurt me the most because she was so calm as she spoke. "I know y'all love each other so I can't stop you two from being together but I can stop you from coming here. Aside from that, I would love to meet my granddaughter."
We let his parents meet Alicia and they instantly like each-other. She took to them pretty well but after a while she started crying for me which is natural because she's pretty attached since I'm the only thing she's known. I took her into my arms and held her close as I went to grab her pacifier. "It's getting late you should probably go." His mother spoke softly and I grabbed our bag and headed to the back to gather our clothes.
Once I put my things in my car Landon seen me off. "Where are you going?" He said uneasy. "Somewhere safe and somewhere I know I'll be welcome. It'll be ok I'll talk to you tomorrow."
