It was only suppose to be a few minutes.
But a few minutes turned into a few hours.

Civil hadn't meant for it to happen, but it did. He wasn't sure what forces conspired so that the two of them would meet, but he was happy it had. The more he talked to Skylar, the more it felt like he was an old friend, rather than a stranger who saved him from having to walk home in the rain. However, Civil realized that Skylar reminded him of his ex-bestfriend Caleb. comparing the two, they weren't entirely similar, for Caleb was always the confident extrovert who made everything he did exiting, while Skylar was more reserved, kindhearted and open with his feelings. Sitting in Skylar's truck, Civil found himself growing more and more comfortable with the previously awkward situation. By the time the rain died down, they were singing along to the stereo and had polished off the entire box of donuts. Instead of getting out of the truck and going home, Skylar offered to take him out to get a drink, and it didn't take much convincing since the amount of donuts they had consumed was enough to make anyone thirsty.

Skylar decided to take Civil to a coffee shop that was in the neighborhood, quite close to the dessert shop where he went with Poppy on a regular basis. When Civil mentioned it to Skylar, he nearly flipped out and drove off the road in excitement, for he worked there on occasion to help with their big events.

"Small world," Skylar chuckled, sipping his iced coffee while lounging back in his chair.

Civil smiled genuinely, taking a sip of his smoothy, he was thrilled that he followed his gut and bought the peach/pear/mango smoothy, it tasted like heaven in a plastic cup. The rain had picked up again, and the drops ran down the window as the wind whipped the drops around like tiny dancers. It was a beautiful sight, the trees bending in the wind as the rain pattered down, mot people hated the rain, but Civil found comfort in it.

"So, do you go to school around here?" Skylar asked, seeming curious about Civil.

Civil normally had a good gut feeling when it came to people, he could gage when someone was playing him the fool or trying to get something from him, and Skylar seemed to make him feel so comfortable it was suspicious. He decided that he could talk to him, and if he started to feel like it was a mistake, he would leave and go home right away.

"Yeah I do go to school around here, Delphian School, do you know it?" Civil questioned, watching his face brighten.

"No way, my brother goes there but I go to a different school, Taff, it sucks ass!" He laughed, and Civil found himself laughing as well.

"I previously went there, and yeah, it does suck ass," he agreed, and they both ended up chucking.

"Does Mrs. Megan still flirt with students?" Civil asked, remember the teacher who had been scolded several times about being inappropriate with the students.

"Oh man you don't know??" He said, leaning in closer, piping his curiosity.

Civil shook his head, and moved in closer as well and listened closely to Skylar.

"She was fired, turns out, she was sleeping with students," he murmured, making Civil slightly gasp, "female students in particular."

"Wow, I can't believe it," he laughed, and then they both met eyes with a knowing look, "well actually..."

Both laughing, Civil leaned back in his seat, thinking back to his time at Taff, how horrible it was being there and how his school was slightly more better. Civil was bobbing his head to the music in the background, and Skylar smiled brightly at him.

"You like to listen to music?" he asked, taking a sip.

Civil thought about his expansive music library, and chucked, "you could say that yeah, that cover band you played in the truck was really good, one of my favourite songs too," he added, thinking to they sang to in the truck.
