Part 23: Please I Do Not Want a Heart:

Benjamin, I and the little one sneak out of the castle. The four countries are connected with teleportals that are only available for the higher nobles. The counts and lower ranks needs permission from the dukes to use it.

"What are you snickering about?" I noticed Benjamin giggling to himself.

"No, it is just that for sure Kaleid will be running around in the castle by now."

"Don't worry I left a note on my desk."

"What?!!! What a bore." He puffed his cheeks and walked ahead.

'Though for sure the guy will still be mad. I can hear his nagging already.'

The little human fell asleep on my bossom, it seems it is the aftermath of the banana.

"She is truly a Clover child."

"Why do you say so?"

"When I met your son the other day, I was like 'uhhh, this little guy is Joseph's kid."

"Well, he is exact replica of me too, but isn't this little one the same?"

The royals of Spade have strong genes and we are born with dark hair and red eyes.

"No, that child have sharpness on his aura, while this little one here, is quite adorn with peaceful aura, which is weird to see with someone with an appearance of Spade."

I look at the sleeping child on my bossom. I remember the young man I met the other day, Kahel is just the same too, but when he did hold this child, there was a definite difference but I could not point what was it. Kahel, is tense and always on guard, but this one might stay like a stone all day, but it is not stone surrounded by lava and desert but with grasses and trees???

"Aura huh?? So hard to comprehend."

Benjamin laugh, "it is important for someone like me who is a calculative type to read the people around me. People gestures and mannerisms reveal their intentions even if their mouth says otherwise."

"I don't know, how you can keep running those gears in your head."

"It is my weapon to survive ya know. Especially now, I do not have the seal anymore. Staying alive will be my top priority."

As we enter the castle grounds, the servants and soldiers give their respect by stepping aside and bowing their heads. Benjamin was granted the title of the prime minister of the Empire which is equivalent of my title as a King of a country.

Unlike the other three countries, the Diamond country is quite submissive to the decisions of the Emperor. Probably because they know, there is no better decision than the Diamond seal bearer.

'I guess the people assume that either the Emperor or Benjamin have the seal. These two men are just so crafty and no one dares to question these two'

As we go deeper inside the castle, the servants become sparse and by the time we reach the throne room, there is not even a single soldier.

"Wait? Is this safe?"

"Oh? Are you talking about security? Well, it should be fine."

"Fine? Why are you so nonchalant when it comes to other people? This is the Emperor's palace, why the security is almost to none."

"Well he issued an order to forbid people from stepping into this area, so it should be fine."

"I don't think so, even how peaceful it is right now, we never know when..."

"It is fine, because we said so." Then he opened the big door. Seating on the throne is a man who had aged farther than the last time I met him. He have his eyes closed and just breathing slowly.

"Your Majesty, may the grace fall-"

"Stop, I am not in the mood."

I choke up the rest of the sentence.

'Well you asked for my presence, at least entertain me.'

"Ha ha ha ha, I don't have to open my eyes to see the expression you are making."

The Emperor slowly open his eyes and his blue eyes are lighter than before. Then I noticed his finger nails, it is blue and purple.

"Your Majesty, this is..."

"Yeah, it is poison."

"Who dares to?!"

"Well it is bound to happen."

I hate that this man had resigned himself to his fate. I glanced at Benjamin and there is no ounce of care on his face. And there supposed to be a possibility that this two are a parent and child. However neither of them tries to confirm it. I asked Benjamin about it, and all he said is, it is to avoid opening new wounds.

"There is a new prophecy Joseph."

The word 'prophecy' sound like an alarm to my ears. The Emperor stood up from his throne.

"Follow me."

Me and Benjamin did and we reach a tiny chamber behind the throne.

"The little one looks like she needs some quiet time for her nap time."

I glanced down at the little human in my arms. She is rubbing her eyes and yawning. I accepted the Emperor's offer and laid the little human on the bed. She was startled at first but the high quality cushions and fabrics made her feel at ease and fell back to sleep in no time.

I realized that us three men is just observing the little girl until she falls asleep and I had a disturbed feeling about it. However, because these two are technically the ones on the top of the Empire, I cannot really roar at them.

Benjamin broke the disturbing silence.

"If you say, she is adorable, I will be utterly disgusted."

"Hey!" I whispered to him, I know he have some hidden grudges against the Emperor, but that was out of the line.

The Emperor just chuckled and walk back to the throne. Me and Benjamin just followed him.

"I won't, it is not like I have any regrets you know." His words have hidden thorns in them.

"You are truly a despicable person, I wonder why you had the Diamond seal."

Are these two always like this? Is this a good thing? I am starting to sweat from the abrupt awkwardness.

"Well, it is not like the one next to me was any better."

'Arggg, it is a parade of sarcasms.'
