Summary: Deaf!Kongpob and a loving Arthit. Meeting in a café.
//
Arthit curses to himself.
He realizes how unfortunate he is that day when it starts raining and he doesn't have his umbrella with him. His Mae had told him many times to bring one, said it's going to rain but it was so sunny so Arthit left saying he's going to be quick but he hasn't ridden the bus yet when the rain starts pouring hard.
This is one of those times Arthit wants to quote Mother Gothel, mother really knows best.
Arthit runs towards the café nearby, stopping under the linen roof to shed himself from the rain. He knows there's a bit of luck remaining in his life today and the rain is going to stop soon.
However, an hour after, the rain continues pouring hard with no plan of stopping and Arthit's shivering state makes it worse before he dies from hypothermia, he enters inside for a warm drink.
All seats are taken– either by families, friends, and couples– all except one chair, right in front of a guy reading a book wearing headphones.
Arthit quickly walks over to him and pats the chair. "Is it fine to sit here?"
The guy ignores him, remains focused on his book. Arthit clears his throat and repeats his question, a bit louder this time. Arthit huffs when the guy doesn't bother lifting his head up. Arthit decided to walk to the guy's side to remove his headphones but from the entrance, he sees a teen zeroing in on the seat so Arthit immediately sits on the chair with a smug smile on his face.
Arthit looks at the guy still reading. He must have really loved the book and it just so happens Arthit is quite obsessed with that book too so he really wants to talk to the guy.
Arthit taps the table getting the attention of the people nearby but not the guy in front.
Not a fan of silence, Arthit leans in and taps the guy's shoulder. Finally, the guy looks up and gives Arthit his attention. Arthit blushes a little when the guy's eyes rest on him. His side profile doesn't do him any good, he looks really handsome.
"You read that too?"
The guy blinks.
"Can you remove your headphones so you can understand me?"
More staring.
Arthit sighs and points at the side of his own ear aggressively and mouths in case the loud music is still invading the guy's ears, "Remove your headphones, please."
The guy nods and pulls down his headphones.
"Thank you. Is it fine if I sit here for a while? I don't want to disturb your reading but I also don't want to invade your personal space, so I want to ask again," Arthit huffs in frustration. "Is it fine?"
The guy remains to stare at him even without his headphones.
Arthit pouts. "I'm sorry I'm talkative but you don't have to be so rude. You can tell me if you don't want to talk to me but don't look at me like that."
The guy picks up a tissue, from his bag, he pulls out a pen and begins scribbling on the tissue. Arthit scrunches his eyebrows.
What the hell is this guy doing now? Is he like a DJ to a club and he lost his voice or something?
I can't hear you.
"Can't or don't want to hear me because I'm annoying? That's a bit rude, you know."
The guy blinks and begins writing again.
I'm deaf.
Arthit blushes and turns his head away. He can't believe he's being a jerk. First, he calls the guy rude, makes up shitty theories, almost bitched at him when he's invaded his personal space already. Damn, Arthit is so insensitive. His remorse and self-hate must have been visible on his face and the guy must have understood it because he feels a tap on his arm and when he looks up, he sees another scribble on the tissue paper.
