On Opposite Teams || (Leon Kennedy X Reader) BOOK 2

Chapter Twelve

We approach a big pool of water with three platform to jump across. I pull out my pistol and watch Leon go first, I gently push Ashley to go before me. She jumps on the first platform as Leon successfully jumps over the last one. I turn around see more leader pile in, I shoot away seeing Ashley only on the second platform. 

I start slowly taking steps back, noticing I have to jump and they could get me. I turn around and jump, I stumble and roll, stopping at the ledge of water. Leon starts shooting with a sniper as Ashley makes her way towards him. I look back and see them jump on the same platform, I get up and go to the second. I almost slip from the water droplets on the smooth floor, I continue running until I jump onto the last platform.

Leon runs in front of me, and holds out his arms. I look over and see them sprinting at me, I don't think and jump. Leon stumbles back as I fall into his arms, his grip holds tight on me, I hear bullet fly out of his gun making me flinch. I feel his grip tighten as he feels me twitch from the sudden noise. I slowly peel myself away hearing the last body fall, I turn to see them all dead. 

I stare blankly at the platforms, feeling a sense of relief. I face palm my face and gather myself, I then feel Leon's hand find it's way to my lower back. I flinch and start remembering the past with my parents. He gives me a soft expression, giving me a feeling of care. 

"You okay?" I nod and see Ashley care for me too. 

"Could I get a minute to myself? You guys can go ahead, I'll follow." Leon nods and retreats his hand, signaling Ashley to follow him. 

Once they both leave I crumble to the ground, I hold my head and gather my thoughts. My parents were never good, they were abusive. Leon won't understand why I reacted like that, since he never knew. I look up and exhale a long breath, I get up and shake my nerves out. I can't let my past and old memories get to me, the trauma can't haunt me. I gulp saliva and nod aggressively, I start walking with fists. Before I could walk through the door, Leon pushes through.

"What's wrong? Did I take too long?" He shakes his head.

"They took Ashley, she acted different and ran. She pushed herself against the wall as spikes rose up, I couldn't get to her. Then Salazar took the line, so I can't connect back to my supervisor." I cock my head to the door, pushing the door wider.

"Come on, let's find her--" I say walking through, Leon follows and stops me.

"We need to find Luis, Salazar said something weird about him." I nod and wave in front of us.

"You lead." I quickly follow behind taking out both pistols. We quickly pass villagers praising something, and walk across a thin bridge. We then see a door at the end and go through it, we turn the corner seeing Luis run up.

"I got it!" He exclaims while holding a vile up, it was the sample to our problem. I smile happily until I watch a claw pierce through his body. I yelp his name as Leon holds me back, we watch him get slammed into the ground. Leon runs towards his body as I pick up the baseball bat I gave him, I watch the claw try to stab Leon but I hit it away. 

I then slowly watch the claw go back to it's owner, Saddler. Leon stands up and uses his arm to cover me.

"Now that I have the sample, you have no purpose." He says looking at Leon and I.

"Saddler!" Leon yells angrily, not taking his eyes off of him. 

"Salazar will make sure, yo both will follow the same thing." Saddler starts to walk away, Leon tries to chase after him, but I kneel down to Luis's side. Leon stops running after him and comes next to me. 

"Stay with me Luis." Leon then tries to figure out a way for his wound. I feel my heart ache knowing I've seen this all before. It's too late, he'll not make it alive. Luis then starts talking, making a strand of blood pour out of his mouth.

"I am a researcher hired by Saddler, he found out what I was up to. Hah..." He then starts coughing.

"Don't speak." I calmly say, as he slowly fades out his laugh. He swats Leon's hand away, and gives him a small container.
