I felt my body instantly seize up as wrapped its hands around me. The intricate deep read "R" on the knob glared at me, taunting me. Like it knew that it had won with successfully luring me into a trap.
Lilly and I had to leave now.
I didn't even think before putting on my old clothes, caring if they bloodstained or dirty. My leg screamed at me to stop and calm down. Lilly did too.
"Addy what the fuck are you doing?" she asked tiredly.
"The knobs," was all I could manage to get out before collecting my thoughts.
"They own the town or are working with it. Lilly we have to leave now," I continued.
She stood up and paced to the knob I was looking at. When she recognized the symbol she took in a sharp breath.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" she muttered quickly getting dressed as fast as she could with a hurt arm.
We made our way out of the room, quickly and quietly. We left the short lived peace we wished would have lasted longer. But reality settled in and now we were in survival mode. Again.
I was so tired. I'm positive Lilly was too. I can't even remember the last time we had a decent meal or sleep and the Agrios pack where are mates resided seemed so distant. It felt like I was slowly losing my grip on them and they were becoming out of reach.
We trekked to the front lobby and saw that the woman wasn't there anymore.
"It's clear," I whispered and creeped out if the lobby into the cool night air. I looked behind me knowing Lilly would be there.
But she wasn't and my panic set in. I suddenly felt exposed and alone and scared without her. I was about to make my way back in when she stumbled out with a goofy smile.
