"Naruto, why is there a square rock following us?" Miyuki asked dryly. He straightened up and turned dramatically towards them.
"Seriously, Konohamaru?"
"Ah, I see you saw through my disguise! As expected of the boss." The rock lifted and three snot-nosed kids appeared.
"What kinda rock is square with eye holes? Come on, Konohamaru. It doesn't take a genius to figure out."
"I'll take you as proof for that," Miyuki snorted. "I certainly wouldn't mark you as a genius."
"Hey!" Naruto protested. She rolled her eyes.
"Hey, boss, who's this? Your girlfriend?" Konohamaru questioned. Miyuki rose an eyebrow.
"I have standards. Not that anyone can meet them."
Moegi snickered. "Damn."
Naruto huffed and crossed his arms, pouting.
"So are you gonna play ninja with us today?! You did promise," Konohamaru said, hands on his hips.
"Run along, children, I'm sick of your presence," Miyuki muttered. "Or I'll break your face."
Konohamaru let out a little scream and ran away, his cronies following behind. Naruto grabbed Miyuki's hand and began running after them, making her twitch in annoyance.
The boy bumped into a sand ninja. Miyuki cringed.
"Oi, brat! Watch where you're going!" He yelled angrily.
"Kankuro, calm down—" the pretty blonde next to him pleaded.
"Listen to the young woman, shinobi-san," Miyuki called. "That's the Hokage's grandson."
She felt angry.
She didn't know why.
"I'm the Kazekage's s- OW! Temari!" Kankuro whined, much to Miyuki's amusement.
"Should've listened to her the first time. Hell hath no fear but a woman scorned," the Uchiha quoted.
A rock hit Kankuro's hand, making him drop O- Konohamaru.
"You're way out of your league," Sasuke said lowly from the tree he was sat in. He crushed a rock in his hand—or was it a dirt clump? Probably the latter, honestly. Show off.
"Hey-" Kankuro began.
"Kankuro," a deep voice rasped. "You're an embarrassment to our village."
The two Suna ninja paled. "G-Gaara! They-They started it!" Kankuro exclaimed, panicking.
"I don't care," he told them. "Stop or I'll kill you."
It was a redhead, seafoam-green eyes with no pupils, heavy circles under his eyes to show his lack of sleep. He was standing upside down on the tree branch next to Sasuke. His gourd was releasing sand onto the floor, and the two other sand shinobi were watching it cautiously.
Miyuki shuddered. "Creepy," she muttered. She looked down and saw sand creeping towards her, making her raise an eyebrow and step back.
It lifted and wrapped around her wrist. It formed a kind of bracelet, hardening and solidifying.
Gaara stared. "Mother gave you a peace offering."
Miyuki blinked. "Pardon?"
"Mother doesn't want you to hurt her."
Her eyes widened. The ichibi?! That's the only reason she can think of. His seal is weak, and the ichibi must be messing with his mind. Pretending to be his mother, though? Weird.
Based on Gaara's words, Miyuki concluded that the ichibi knew she was related to the man who controlled the kyuubi on October 10th twelve years ago, and didn't want to be controlled. Hence the peace offering.
I inwardly snickered.
"Tell Ichi-san to let you sleep, and maybe I'll take you up on it."
Temari and Kankuro flipped around to face me, eyes wide. I only pressed my finger to my mouth, grinning and winking.
"You. What's your name?" Sasuke demanded.
"Who, me?" Temari asked, blushing.
"No," he replied bluntly. "The one with the gourd."
"Gaara of the Sand," the redhead answered. "I'm curious about you, and the girl."
"Hn. Uchiha Sasuke," Sasuke said, leaping down next to me and crossing his arms.
"Miyuki," came her short reply.
Sasuke shot her a surprised look, and she only answered with an apathetic one.
"I look forward to..facing you in the exams."
"Exams?" Naruto asked, scratching his head. Miyuki kicked his shins.
"Same to you," she answered politely despite the fact that she was talking to an unstable jinchuuriki who was probably a psychopath that took pleasure in killing.
She didn't know that she practically got it spot on until she spotted him in the exams.
The three watched as the sand siblings walked away.
"Did'ya really gotta kick me that hard?" Naruto whined, waterfall tears streaming down his face as he clutched his shin.
"I hardly tapped you," came the dry reply. "I'm not going to heal you. You heal fast anyways."
Naruto abruptly stopped crying, a perplexed look on his face. "What'd they mean by exams anyways?!"
"The chunin exams," Miyuki scowled. "At the start of July there will be an exam where genin have a chance to be promoted to chunin."
"Sweet!" Naruto cheered.
"She isn't finished," Sasuke said grimly, staring at Miyuki to prompt her to continue.
"It's also a chance to get brutally murdered, and since you have to sign a contract, it won't be the proctor's fault," Miyuki finished casually. She inwardly snickered as the colour drained out of Naruto's face. "Anyways," she said brightly. "I'm getting groceries. You're all free to come over tonight for katsudon! Ja ne."
She then shunshinned away, Naruto beginning to offer to help her before cutting himself off miserably.

Miyuki hummed as she finally finished shopping, a white plastic bag full of ingredients for future meals in her right hand. Looking up at the moon, she frowned, thinking of...thinking of Obito's plan.
She would never say it, but she didn't like his plan. A war to end all wars? A war to bring peace? It's bull! She scowled. Just to think, an artificial life! It wouldn't be as satisfying!
..would it?
Lost in her thoughts, she noticed a chakra signature far too late, as an arm grabbed her by the bicep and pulled her into an alley.
And then all there was on the lonely street was a white, plastic bag.
A/N
I've edited a couple previous chapters and made minor changes, but kinda major in a way? I only got rid of like a sentence and a word.
Basically, the Akatsuki (excluding Pein, Obito and Itachi) don't know she's an Uchiha. This will keep Obito's identity safe should she ever slip up and call him big brother.
And also, prepare your asses for next chapter. There'll be a major trigger warning.
