Chapter 46

« Tobi »

"Halt!" Yuu giggled. "Who goes there?"

Naruto fell backwards after almost running into Tobi, letting out a shriek as he did so. "Wh-WhAa?!"

The other 7 leapt down beside him, eyes narrowed. Except maybe the Aburame. Did he even have eyes?

Yuu shuddered. "Tobi-Nii, do Aburames have eyes?"

Tobi paused for a second, turning to look at her with a tilted head.

Slowly, he shrugged.

Yuu's mouth dropped open, staring at the boy with wide, fascinated eyes. "Woah. How can he see, then? Shino-kun isn't blind- AA-!" She screamed as Naruto leapt at her, rasengan in hand. "Hehe! Just kidding!"

Yuu dodged, twirling as she smiled gently behind her mask.

"They're playing with us!" Naruto snarled. "Quit messing around!"

Yuu casually fell off the tree she was on, phasing through the ground. Tobi paused in slight confusion, when suddenly Kiba's ankle was grabbed by a hand.

"Doton: Headhunter jutsu!" Yuu giggled, pulling the Inuzuka down into the ground. Kiba shrieked.

"Nice, Yuu-chan!" Tobi cheered, clapping. She grinned, punching the air.

"I said.." Naruto seethed. "Quit playing with us, you bastards!" He yelled. Sakura and Hinata ran at Tobi from different directions, closing in on him as he wobbled about in a half hearted attempt at dodging. Naruto leapt up, rasengan in hand.

"Owowoawoahwoah!" Tobi wailed. "They were the decoy!"

Naruto's pupils dilated as he phased through the masked man, stumbling as he fell to the ground, wide eyed. "I-I knew it," he whispered. "You're that guy!"

Tobi tilted his head.

"From the forest," Naruto growled angrily. "In the chunin exams! The one that knew Miyuki-chan!"

Tobi paused for a moment, as did Yuu.

Yuu didn't expect this. Yuu didn't even expect Naruto to care much about Miyuki's death at all.

"You.." Naruto snarled. "You're the one that killed her!"

His nails sharpened into claws, eyes slitting and bleeding from cerulean to red. Chakra bubbled out of him, warm and demonic.

Yuu delightedly clapped her hands. "Tobi, can I pet him? I wanna pet the fox!"

Obito tensed. He knew Miyuki wasn't an idiot—in fact, he could say with certainty that she was smart. Why was she provoking a jinchuuriki?

Surely she wasn't risking her life for a chance to capture Naruto, right?

Yuu skipped straight over to him, placing a hand gently on his head. Naruto swung a hand back, ready to attack.

He froze.

Now, Obito was very confused. Was she talking to Naruto? Why? What if he found out her identity? What if—

Yuu paused.

And she punched Naruto in the face, throwing him backwards.

She giggled, shunshinning away to a nearby tree to watch the rest of the fight. She began to intervene when Tobi was captured by that.. ah, what was his name? The experiment?

Yamato, was it?

When Yamato used wood style on Tobi, she got slightly worried. For nothing, of course. Same for Shino's bugs.

Eventually, she simply left her spot and leapt down next to Tobi, rocking on her heels when suddenly Zetsu emerged from the tree branch.

"Sasuke won. Uchiha Itachi is dead."

Miyuki's breath hitched, face falling as tears built up in her eyes. "W-What..?"

"Whaaat?" Tobi yelled in feigned shock. "I can't believe it!"

"...Kidding. It's just as I expected."

Miyuki jumped, flipping around to look at Obito in surprise. "You.. I.."

The two of them swirled away, one with her head down and the other glaring at the Konoha nin with a single, sharingan eye.
