6 years ago (Aria was 5)

I re-enter the living room where Molly is scolding the twins for something.

"Mowy? Can we go outside?" I ask.

She thinks for a moment.

"I don't see why not." She responds. "Grab your sweater and your shoes."

The twins and I do, and a few minutes later we're dashing out the back door.

For awhile, we run around, chasing each other though the yard, light only by the moonlight.

"Molly? Kids get inside!" My mother cry's.

"Catch me if you can!" Fabian calls, before sprinting into the woods behind the house.

I share a glance with Gideon, before sprinting after Fabian.

I hear my mother's voice calling us in the distance, but I ignore it, this is too fun.

The three of us dash between the tree branches,  hopping over roots, and laughing our heads off.

After a while my brothers get tired and soon after that, we find the road.

I've never been one to get tired quickly, but I follow my brothers as they wheeze.

"All we have to do is follow the road home." Gideon says, and starts walking along it, me and Fabian following.

After a while my brothers are so tired they can't even walk.

"I'll  go find mom." I tell them, and run off down the road to find her.

I run for a while, and I still can't find her.  The road doesn't even look like the road I know anymore.

The forest on either side things out and soon it's just fields that slope upward leaving the road in a small valley.

And then, there it is. A magnificent white house up on the top of one of the hills.

"Wow." I breathe.

I want to walk up the hill to it, but just then I have a horrible sound. A howl.

I dash back into the woods,  but that sound only seems to be getting closer, and closer.

A horrible, huge, matted old beast steps out in front of me. It lunges, and everything goes black.
