A look of confusion crosses the poltergeists face. It's clearly the first time he's listened to any student, let alone a first year.
What do I say?
"Show us back to the Slytherin common room." I demand.
"And why would I listen to a itty bitty firstie?" He asks, but he sounds a bit uncertain.
"Why wouldn't you?" I scoff. "And besides, we can help each other."
He stares at us, trying to figure me out for a long moment before saying.
"Right this way itty bitty firsties."
Severus starts to follow Peeves, but I stop him. It's as though I can sense his motivations.
"That's not the way back to our common room." I say coldly.
"Really? I though you were lost itty bitty,"
"Shut it with that nickname!" I snap. "Show us the real way back."
He floats there, for a while, before grumbling something and leading us off down a different hall.
After about 10 minutes we reach the stretch of wall outside the Slytherin common room.
"Thanks." I say calmly, and reach out and shake Peeves hand.
He seems shocked by my gesture, but after a second, he grins.
"We'll be in touch?" A sly grin on his face.
"Of course."
And with that, me and Severus enter the Slytherin common room.
