"Aria?" He turns to me, eyes wide behind his round glasses.
I try to speak, but I find that all of a sudden, I can't. My mouth has gone dry, and my throat is hoarse.
There was so much we needed to talk about.
The awkward moment is broken by two more figures entering the kitchen.
Fabian and Gideon.
They see me. Our eyes lock.
I try to read what they're thinking, but it's hard. It's as though they feel no emotion at all.
Then Gideon speaks,
"Come on James, we don't want to stick around with all these Slytherins.
The two of them turn, and leave. James turns back to me. I silent plea in his eyes. Asking me for the impossible.
But then he too, turns and leaves.
I think my heart stopped, tears stream down my face, and I collapse to the ground.
