(Maddy)

"Run! We need to get out of here!" Cassy, my older sister, shouted to me as I struggled to stay awake while running. She was holding my hand, and I didn't dare let go of her.

"No, you need to stay away from me sis... you'll get very sick if you stay near me like this..." I told her, and she had already been vomiting blood 3 times already as the radiation was too much for her immune, but not this immune, body to handle itself.

The red Hunter came running to us again and we began to run again, but I soon lost my balance and fell to the ground, my stomach churning like it was eating itself. Cassy didn't leave me for a second however, and she looked at the hunter wide-eyed with her almond brown eyes. Cassy's blonde hair was a mess along with my own.

"Leave us alone you monster!" Cassy said, but the Red Hunter didn't respond nor honor that request.

"I have orders, stay back human" She said to Cassy, and this made Cassy even more angered.

Cassy tried her best to stand up, but everything started to hurt as she was in the presence of 2 heavily radioactive Superlings. She lifted her hands between the Hunter and I, shielding me from the Red Hunter, but that was a fatal mistake.

"Over my dead body. If you want my sister you're gonna have to go through me" Cassy said, her face red from the developed fever of radiation poisoning.

The Red Hunter didn't even flinch at the words. "I tried to warn you" she said blankly. Her hands glowed and her aim was at me, and I went wide eyed and flinched, but the hit never came. I opened my eyes to see a heartbreaking sight right then and there.

"Cassy!" I yelled as she jumped in front of me, shielding me from a blast from her. The Red Hunter. My head was still hurting, and I could barely run; I had been marked and contained thanks to Mia, the Purple one.

The Red hunter looked at me with blank, emotionless, and seemingly lifeless brown eyes. Her dark dirty blonde almost brown hair was chopped up in a messy manner from the struggle between Mia and herself. Mia sure could put up a fight, that's what I knew immediately.

"Maddy... you need to run" Cassy, my older sister, said to me. I was on my knees, looming over my sisters dying body, crying heavily as I screamed for her not to die on me.

"I can't leave without you!" I shouted, tears flowing from my eyes like a waterfall. Cassy smiled and looked into my eyes; her hand stroked the tears off my left cheek.

"Go. No matter what happens to me I will be fine, just go. Save yourself. That's all I want now. Don't be caught by the monsters"

I looked at her for a second and then nodded, Cassy's hand dropped, and I could feel her body getting cold immediately. I then heard the Red speak; her words were like knives to me by now, but I didn't care as I was now seeing crimson. I had to hold back the anger though, I know this is what she wanted.

"How sad. This is not what I intended, however. That was her own fault" The Red said, and all be it might be the truth, it still stung bad.

"Shut the fuck up you shell of a human!" I yelled back at her, growling slightly. My vision grew a tint of crimson, a blood red. A tint of vengeance and anger.

No, calm down. Don't react. Just run! My thoughts screamed at me.

I froze, standing there. Vulnerable. Not knowing what to do.

"It still stings to this day..." I said to Elana after I told her my story. She had gone pale and she hugged me tightly, as if not wanting to let go. It was truly a terrible tragedy, and it was something that cannot be forgotten, no matter if you were there or told about it by someone who was... it still hits the same.

"Holy shit..." Elana said, and I knew this was horrid for her to hear since she never usually cusses. I wonder what crap she went through with that Red hunter, but with me my experience was so unnerving that it was almost unimaginable.

It felt like it happened just yesterday, it still felt clear as day. The fear, the hatred, the thirst for vengeance... oh how I wanted to kill that Red, but I couldn't. I didn't. Madness was beneath me, no matter how tempting it seemed, it wasn't right.

Elana just looked at me and then let go, and then we changed the subject. "Do you think we could be in some classes together?" I asked her, and then she smiled and shrugged.

"Not sure yet, but that would be nice. Is Karmyn here to?"

"Yeah! She's a freshmen Superling right now, and she is still discovering what her abilities are. So far she has discovered a very unique form of telepathy, night vision type powers, and animal type abilities to" I said, chuckling a little at the thought of when Karmyn was running from a swarm of cats during biology class.

Elana and I talked for hours, and before I knew it the sun had already set. The time for the ceremony was upon us in a few hours. I gasped when I looked at the time and sat up from the bed, looking at the time in slight disbelief not immediately time could go by that fast.

"We need to go get you a dress before the ceremony begins!" I said in a fast manner.

"Wait wha-" Elana started to say.

But before Elana could say the rest we rushed out the door in the twilight-gleaming night and to the other side of the campus to where the mall is.

You know what they say, a ball is not the same without a dress.
