(Casey)
I sighed, walking through the hallway quietly with my hands in my pockets. Other Superlings and Superhumans, some dark skinned, some tan, some pale, glanced at me for a second before going back to their own business.
I wasn't the same girl I was last year, the same girl I was before I came here. That cheerful introvert left the second I awakened.
The second I lost both my parents.
I scrolled through my phone, looking to see what assignments I had to do as I walked to my dorm room on the other side of campus with the rest of the technokinetics.
As the highest ranking technokinetic mechanic they had, I was fairly valuable to this facility and the whole Blue Superhuman race.
"There you are!" Kyra, a 3rd year Blue Superling, said to me.
I chuckled and went over to hug them. Kyra Williams is my best friend, and they had been ever since I came to this facility a few months ago. When I first met them, we became instant friends, like we've known each other for years.
"I didn't miss much did I?" I asked Ky, and they nodded no.
"Not that much, I did the assignments you were assigned to while you were gone helping with your old friend Elana" Kyra said to me, and I chuckled thinking about it.
"Must've been hard to try then"
"Oh you have no idea"
We both chuckled at this as we walked to the dorm building to my dorm room. Ky's dark black hair in braids and hair extensions and their chocolate brown and skin contrasting sharply with their nearly sapphire blue galaxy mark. They looked a bit cute when they smiled, I wonder why no one had fallen for them yet.
Then again... I guess it would make sense. No one really goes for the mechanics much, people are always interested in the defenders, the water manipulators, you name it. The public don't really pay attention to the technokinetics since we are a semi-uncommon sect.
My kind of technokinetic being the most uncommon thing in the sect, but also most of the time the most accurate type that exists.
My technokinetic power has been rated as 90% accurate, leaving very little room for error, and it made me the most powerful and accurate technokinetic among the Superling and Superhuman populations. A much needed power for my Superhuman family as well, especially with them close to extinction in the hands of the Reds.
However, I was not the same as the other technokinetics in my category though. As far as I know they were all technopaths, or mostly technopaths, but I wasn't a technopath at all. I am a Cyberpath, and a pure one at that; which makes me even more valuable.
Unlike the other technokinetics, my power works by mentally bonding my consciousness with that of technology, my being becoming one with that of the technology and allowing me to control it like it was part of myself. The others can only manipulate it through telepathic messages, and are unable to bind their consciousness to the tech they manipulate at all, unlike my Cyberpathy power.
Although, as everyone has learned here, great power doesn't come without it's costs. Even as advanced as our bodies have become over the generations, our biology isn't fully compatible with our powers... more so than those of the mental spectrum than the physical or spiritual though.
If my physical body were to be attacked or harmed while I was in cyberspace, I would be affected in cyberspace. It's the same way the other way around as well. Other than that, if I used my ability too much I would get a nasty hangover headache and one hell of a nosebleed... and that's if I'm lucky.

Once the other technokinetics and I were done, Ky and my other Technopath friend Aadiya came over to me. I waved to them after I washed my hands of debris from car parts and paint, it was a pretty busy day for me.
"Hey! Casey!" Aadiya said to me, and I looked over to her.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked her.
"Want to have a sleepover tonight after the ceremony?" Ky said, I could tell the two of them have been thinking about it, "It'll be in my dorm and my master is cool with it"
I thought about it for a second, but knowing my Superling life something always pops up... especially now since Elana came into the picture.
"I don't know... I'm going to have to think about that. If I decide to do so I will come by your dorm with my stuff for the night"
Aadiya and Kyra nodded and gave me a thumbs up. "Will do" they both said in unison.
They then went back to their respective dorms, leaving me to walk to my dorm alone as I usually do, the exception of a few days when Kyra or Aadiya walk with me to my dorm to hang out for a bit. I wasn't much for sleepovers anyway, so it's not like I felt lonely or anything.
I opened the door to my room and sighed, turning on the tv and starting to make myself an early dinner late lunch. As the water boiled I watched the news, there wasn't much of anything eventful... just more scandals regarding the president, government, and Reds.
This nation has become a sad and shunned one... a nation that fell from the height of greatness, and has been falling for millennia. However, some years were better than others, I do say that. Despite that, this nation isn't getting any better.
I sighed and looked at the photograph of my parents and I from 4 years ago, a time when things were much better. It was my 10th birthday photo, and my parents and other family members were there.
I was an only child, and so my parents gave me a lot of attention growing up, they were good parents. My mother was suffering with mental illness, as she did for a long time, but she always had a smile on her face and my father did what he could to care for her.
My how I wish they could be here to see what good I've become so far...
... I miss them dearly...
