(Nick)

"Hurry up! You're late dumbass!" Quinn yelled in my direction in the hallway with a smile as I was running in the opposite direction than Elana was. She always calls me this, it wasn't degrading as much as it was a funny nickname to me.

"I'm sorry... I got distracted with playing video games again" I told Quinn as I laughed. Quinn always cussed, and she always was like that even on the day I met her and Chase in the 4th grade. I still remember that legendary roast fest from her.

Quinn was what you would call the stereotypical bad girl loner, her short rigid dirty blonde hair and light hazel bluish eyes were enough to intimidate anyone. She knew how to cuss someone out, and wasn't afraid to fight anyone either and will do it if she was forced to no matter what the rules were.

However, Quinn was also pretty intelligent as much as she was a feared delinquent of the school. It was covered up with her emo style of clothing and the bunches of temporary tattoos she constantly had on her body.

Chase was more or less the opposite of Quinn, and more like me. Chase had a dark chocolate brown hair in a bull cut (like Will from stranger things), freckles on his cheeks, and light greyish-amber eyes. He was athletic and intelligent, preferring to play things like Baseball and football. He got a few detentions though, but it was mostly for talking at the wrong time in class... just like me.

Chase was one of the top 10 students with the highest GPA, and a good role model for our school along with me, Elana, and a few other of the smart kids. Our school was the most successful and the best school in the county for most aspects. Sure, we lacked sports opportunities but we made up for it with test scores and lack of recorded trouble.

However, ever since Lily Montgomery came into the school the amount of mischief spiked up a little bit, but it was that significant. It still angered some of the students here, especially us smart kids since her presence was making us seem a little more like the rest of the inner city schools.

And that was what our school didn't want to be associated with.

Chase, however, was in class already and ditched Quinn in waiting for me because he didn't want to be late to class and get in trouble for it. Chase was a good kid, and he usually tries to stay away from physical fights.

He's a pacifist neutral, just like I am.

"Next time wake up earlier, and just get dressed in whatever you find and run the hell to school" Quinn suggested sarcastically, and I nodded with a chuckle; knowing instinctively when she is being funny.

No one dares to mess with Quinn, and her family has been sued a few times due to her antics but all have proven in their favor because Quinn is careful about picking fights; they all were pretty much in self-defense in some way.

"Man I really want to spin kick the drama kids in the ass and punch them into lockers" Quinn remarked, mentioning moves she was doing in her karate classes afterschool for 3 days each week. That was another reason people didn't dare mess with Quinn...

She is a highly skilled Red belt in 2 types of self defense, Taekwondo and Karate in general and has a will of steel, which is favorable for warrior-like souls to. How Quinn finds the time for these things, I will never know.

"What are they doing now?" I asked, rolling my eyes. It must've had something to do with Elana again, and I knew Lily was the leader of them. No wonder Quinn wanted to pummel them.

"Their spreading rumors about Elana again, but that's not the only person. They're also spreading rumors about Mia to, or as Lily calls her the 'freaky emo witch girl'" Quinn spoke in a mocking and funny impression of Lily.

I chuckled at the impression she made of Lily, it suited the drama queen well. For some unknown reason she had always been bullying Elana, and it had been this way for a year or 2. Although, her spreading rumors about the new girl Mia was a bit of a surprise; I doubted they were any good though.

No one knows much about Mia or her background, only that she was a Freshmen who was held back a year and she was supposed to be a sophomore, her family and herself are devout Wiccans, and that she seems laid back and cool.

"What rumor is being spread about Mia? I want to hear the crazy ridiculous rumor"

Quinn thought about it for a second before getting an unsure expression on her face, looking at me kind of serious. "This rumor sounds pretty legit though, well, more legit than any rumor she came up with before. It'll make chills go down your spine" Quinn stammered in response.

I knew when she kept secrets it was usually something that was gravely serious, I learned this the hard way when she told me the truth about her family situation. I was glad that shell of a man she used to call her father is rotting in jail for what he had done... he had done things that were unspeakable.

            "Come on just tell me!"

"Fine okay okay... Lily and her drama friends think that the new girl, Mia, isn't human at all and came to abduct a certain student here. Not sure who the student is, but it's someone who goes here"

I froze, thinking about it for a minute. Mia sure was mysterious, but when we asked to hang out she always preferred not to hang out at her house. I always found that odd, but I always dismissed it.

I then laughed at it, Quinn did to. "Load of bullshit! I have to say, she sure is getting better at this. Still, funny as hell that she is idiotic enough to come to that conclusion" I laughed, and hysterically.

"I know right? So stupid!" Quinn snickered back.

Something seems off... I thought, passively-aggressively telling me that not everything is what it seems on the surface.
