Julia's POV

One week later

I was at home, making dinner with my mom, when my phone rang.

"Hello?" I questioned the number on my phone. I didn't recognize it.

"Hello Julia." The person on the line said.

"Who is this?" I asked, confused. I don't remember giving anyone my number?

"You know who I am. I'm calling to tell you about a little... deal that I have made, concerning you."

Okay....? Now I motioned my mother to come over to the phone. I covered the speakers and told her to be quiet. She nodded as I put it on speaker.

"What are you talking about? Who are you? And what deal?"

"If you don't know who I am now, you will." The person on the line paused a few moments before speaking again.

"This... deal... is about you and your little friend. Liam. My co-workers and I have decided that since that Sam kid couldn't do his job right, that we would just have to contact you about our new deal." I was beyond confused at this point. What in God's name is this person talking about? They had something to do with what happened last week at school?

"What do you want?" I trailed off, my mom had a concerned look on her face.

"We don't want anything. Yet. I just called to warn you that you will be approached sometime within this month by a few of my co-workers. They will tell you to do something. And you will do this action without telling anyone or else your little friend Liam will suffer the consequences. Do you understand?"

By now I was too shocked to speak. What does this person want? I looked to my mom for help, but she made the hand signal that she locked her mouth, and then motioned for me to speak.

"No. No I don't understand." I said with anger in my voice, enunciating my last word.

"I don't understand what your talking about. I don't understand who you are. I don't understand why you're doing this. I don't freakin UNDERSTAND."

"That's fine. Just know that you have been warned." They said before the line went dead.

What just happened?

Liam's POV

"Just know that you have been warned" they said before the line went dead.

What just happened? I get a call from God knows who, and they tell me that if I don't do what they say that Julia will "pay the consequences."

And not to change the subject, but yeah, I know, I chickened out on asking Julia out. Multiple times. Don't yell at me. I'll think that i will ask her on the bus tomorrow. On the way home of course. I think I'll need the whole bus ride to school to talk to her about the phone call I just got. No way was I not going to tell her she was in danger. I recorded the conversation when I started to get suspicious, so I think that I will just let her listen to it on my phone.acctually, I'm gonna call her right now.

I quickly dialed her number, but before I could press the call button, I got a call from her! I answered without hesitation.

"Hey!" I exclaimed.

"I need to tell you something!" She voiced into the phone, sounding scared.

"Yeah, what's wrong?" I said. Did something happen to her already?

"Could you come over? I'd rather tell you in person..." She trailed off.

"Sure. I have to tell you something too. I'll be over in a minute."

With that I walked out the door, calling to my mom over my shoulder that I'd be back soon.

I hope she's okay...

Julia's POV

About 20 minutes later, after we've told each other what happened, my mom invited Liam's mom over. They were in the kitchen now and we were in my room.

"So they basically said the same thing to us, but what does it mean?" Liam questioned, frustratedly pacing around my room.

"I don't know..." I trailed off quietly, still in a but of shock. I felt my pathetic tears start to burn in my eyes at the though of what "they" could do to me. What "they" could do to him. He turned around, looking at me for a second, before walking over to me and embracing me tightly.

"We'll be fine, okay? We're gonna be alright." He whispered comfortingly, lightly running his fingers over my hair. I just solemnly nodded into the crook of his neck as he murmured things like "you'll be fine", and "they won't hurt you."

"As long as you're here, I know I'm safe." I said after I felt I could finally trust my voice again. I could feel him grin against my cheek.

"As long as I'm here, I know I can protect you," he whispered back.

I pulled away slightly, wanting to see his eyes, but they were closed as he suddenly pressed his lips against mine. I only took a second to recover from the shock of the gesture before I put my arms around his neck and moved my lips against his. His arms snaked around waist, his hands on my hips, pulling me closer. This kiss was different from the last. This one was more passionate, but it was still sweet and it still made my stomach drop like I'm on roller coaster.

I don't know how long we stayed that way, but I never wanted to pull away. After what seemed like a few minutes, we broke apart. He pulled me into a tight hug, his strong arms tight around my back, just under my shoulder blades. I leaned my head on his chest and took a deep breath. I felt my eyes get heavy and yawned. Not even a second later, he did the same.

"Tired?" He asked, loosening his grip so he just had his arms draped over my waist.

"Not at all. What ever gave you that idea?" I asked, my arms laying lifelessly on his shoulders. He chuckled.

"Just a hunch." He said sarcastically, right before he picked me up bridal style.

"Liam!" I squealed as i tightened my grip around his neck. We just laughed as he sat down on my bed with me still in his arms so that I was basically on his lap.

"What was that for?" I asked, still laughing. He looked a bit nervous before answering, but that disappeared instantly as a happy grin spread across his face. He quickly pecked my lips before asking me.

"Will-" kiss.

"You-" kiss.

"Be-" kiss.

"My-" kiss.

"Girlfriend-" he then kissed me longer and sat me up so I was comfortably sitting across his lap. When he pulled away, I was breathless. But I couldn't figure out if it was from him kissing me or from the shock of the question I've been waiting to here for weeks. I paused as I found my breath again, and finally answered his question.

"I've waited so long for you to ask that question that I've been thinking about doing it myself." I said with my biggest grin. He smiled from ear to ear and picked me back up, spinning me around by holding me under my arms. I laughed and didn't have a second thought before I pressed my lips to his again. When we broke apart, I chuckled at the huge grin still plastered on his face. At that moment I didn't care about the threats made on both of us. I didn't have a care in the world except for just one.

That this is real and I not dreaming.
