"So, Caroline?" Rebekah had been staying with Klaus in Chicago after a spat with her lover. As much as he enjoyed his sister's company, he needed a break from her.
"So Marcellus." He countered.
"You know we aren't speaking." She scoffed.
"You were fine at the gallery last week." He reminded her and she rolled her eyes.
"No, we just know how to put on a good show." She exclaimed before taking a bottle of wine off the counter.
"Rebekah, it is 11:30." Klaus pointed out as he took the bottle from her and gave her a mug of coffee instead.
"I've lost all sense of time." She sighed dramatically. She folded over and put her head face down on the island.
"Maybe you should go out, do something," Klaus advised, partially just wanting her to leave him alone.
"Fine. I can take a hint." Rebekah noticed Klaus's phone on the island and smirked to herself. "I wonder if Caroline is free." Klaus's eyes widened but Rebekah was already down the hall with his phone. She slipped into the bathroom and locked the door. She entered in the password that Klaus had been using since he was 14 and found Caroline's contact.
"REBEKAH!" Klaus yelled through the door, to no avail.
"Klaus? Why in Hell are you calling me before noon?" She mumbled into the phone.
"Not Klaus, Sweets." Rebekah chirped into the phone. Caroline woke up instantly.
"Rebekah? What's up?" Caroline asked, suddenly concerned at why the blonde was calling her.
"I'm taking you shopping. Can you be ready by 1? I'll send a car."
"Uhm o-okay."
"Great! See you then." Rebekah hung up and opened the bathroom door handing Klaus back his phone. Klaus was glaring at her but she pushed past him and went into the guest room where she had been staying.
As soon as Rebekah hung up, Caroline called Katherine.
"We might have a bit of an issue," Caroline stated nervously.
"What?" She spat, already annoyed.
"Rebekah wants to hang out with me." When Katherine formulated her plan, Rebekah had been almost 800 miles away in New York. She hadn't been expecting the blonde to make an appearance so soon. She processed the events in her head and started rearranging things until she had a new picture.
"Rebekah is Klaus' favorite sibling. If you can get in good with her, you'll have him wrapped around your finger." Katherine decided. "When are you seeing her?" Caroline glanced at the clock on her wall.
"In about an hour." She answered sheepishly.
"An hour? God!" Katherine groaned, running a hair through her brown curls. "This is why I never work with amateurs." She muttered to herself. "Okay, crash course on Rebekah Mikaelson. She's beautiful and strong but if you get on her bad side she becomes a total bitch."
"Reminds me of someone else," Caroline mumbled under her breath.
"Very close with all of her siblings except Finn, is known for falling in love too easily-I can work with that." Katherine hung up without another word. Caroline waited for her to call back but she didn't. She debated calling Bonnie or Elena but decided against it. She got changed and grabbed her purse just in time to see the car pulling up outside of her apartment building.
She stared at the limo in awe. Rebekah climbed out and surprised her by pulling her into a hug.
"Shall we?" They got inside and Rebekah smirked as Caroline took in the luxury surrounding her.
"So why did you want to hang out? Not that I mind, it's nice to have a friend here." Caroline wondered.
"Klaus was trying to get rid of me. I've been staying with him since the gallery opening." She explained. "Apparently my brother needs his alone time."
"Don't you live in New York?" Caroline asked, trying not to sound suspicious.
"I just needed a break." She shrugged. Caroline nodded in understanding. They pulled up to a mall and got out of the limo. Rebekah looped her arm through Caroline's and started dragging into some of the most expensive stores. "We need to get you a proper outfit for your first official date with my brother." Rebekah grinned tugging her into a different store. Caroline looked at the price tag of one of the items and jumped back as if it had burned her.
"I can't afford any of this," Caroline exclaimed.
"Don't worry, Sweets. My treat. Now let's find you the perfect dress that will make my brother go completely mad." Rebekah started flipping through the outfits.
"He hasn't even asked me out yet." Caroline pointed out as she made her way to the other side of the rack.
"Hmm. Well then, how would you like to accompany me to the Masquerade gala next weekend? I need a plus one." Rebekah tried to glaze over it and Caroline decided not to ask.
"Where's the gala?"
"New York City, but it will be a quick flight and it will give me a chance to get some of my things. It will be fun."
"I don't know..." Caroline sighed. She was dying to go to New York but she feared Katherine would have her head if she completely abandoned the plan. Then again, she did tell her to get closer to Rebekah. "Are you sure you wouldn't rather take someone else...?"
"Positive. Now, let's find you a dress."
Katherine spent the afternoon searching her contacts until she found the perfect candidate. She dialled his number and waited for whatever harsh reaction he would have to her.
"What the hell do you want?" He spat as he picked up.
"Is that any way to speak to your dearest friend?"
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't hang up on you right now." Katherine rolled her eyes.
"I'll give you five."
