Katherine was getting tired of the girls always calling her with their problems. When she originally recruited them for her revenge plot she hadn't anticipated how annoying they would be. It's what she gets for working with amateurs. But there was no one else who would be able to pull it off.
"Katherine, you wanted me to cook for Elijah but we both know I can't do that." Elena was an awful cook and they both knew it. There was no way she could pull off the perfect meal for Elijah. But Katherine already knew that.
"Which one of us has done this before?"
"Kat-"
"Which one?" Elena rolled her eyes.
"You but-"
"No buts. I know what I'm doing. Tonight can go one of two ways. One in some miracle, you pull it off and manage to impress him. Two, you fail completely and he will try to save the day. If you fail you show him your human and flawed. Elijah will appreciate that especially after he dated me." Katherine was too smug but Elena had to admit she was impressed with how well she had this planned out. "Trust me. If something is wrong I'll know." Katherine hung up and returned her attention to a different problem.
Now that Rebekah was hanging around Chicago, Katherine would have to shift around her plan to accommodate Klaus' doting sister. It was easy enough for Caroline to befriend her but if Rebekah got too involved it could ruin everything. All she needed was a distraction. Unfortunately, the distraction cost 5 million dollars. She just hoped her old friend would come through.
Elijah arrived at Elena's just in time to find sauce smeared across her face as she tried to stop the oven from smoking. Elijah rushed in and turned it off, opening the window to clear some of the smoke. Elena blushed as she met his eyes.
"So I may have forgotten to mention I can't actually cook," Elena stated nervously. Elijah chuckled as he grabbed a cloth off the counter and gently wiped the tomato sauce off her cheek. "I think it's a little early in the relationship for you to see me like this," Elena bit her lip.
"You look beautiful, lovely Elena." He smiled genuinely before pecking her lips.
"I look better than whatever creature is in my oven." She sighed, running a hand through the tangle of hair.
"Why don't you change and I'll order some food?" He offered.
"Are you sure?"
"I could always help you change if you would prefer. I am quite good at getting women out of their clothes." He grinned stepping closer to her and putting his hands on her hips.
"I have no doubt in your abilities Mr. Mikaelson, but why don't we save that for dessert?" She teased. "You can order whatever you want. There's a drawer of takeout menus by the fridge." Elena disappeared to get changed and Elijah called and ordered Chinese. Elena brushed her hair and quickly put on some light makeup. She grabbed a black dress from her closet and slipped it on before returning to Elijah.
"I think I liked you better before." Elijah teased as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Oh shut up." She rolled her eyes. "What did you decide on?"
"Chinese food." He handed her the menu and she nodded approvingly at his choice.
"It's on me by the way." She insisted. He opened his mouth to protest but Elena placed her finger over his lips to silence him. "No arguments." Elena set the table so they could attempt to have a nice meal despite her fail at cooking. When the doorbell rang she noticed him making a move to the door but she grabbed her wallet and bolted in front of him. She cheered triumphantly before answering the door.
After paying for the food she brought it to the kitchen and plated it. He sat down at the kitchen table and she placed his plate in front of him.
"I still can't believe how badly I screwed this up." Elena sighed, twirling her noodles around with her fork. "One day I'll learn how to cook." She sighed dramatically.
"I could teach you." Elijah offered.
"You know how to cook?" Elena blurted in disbelief.
"My mother taught us all when we were younger. I'm one of the few siblings that retains the skill." He chuckled at her surprise.
"And you think you can teach me even after the travesty you witnessed today?"
"Only one way to find out." Elijah pointed out and Elena nodded.
"I'm in."
After they finished eating, Elena put the dishes in the sink and Elijah came up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and placed soft kisses on her neck causing her to moan. Elena turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck. He captured her lips and she kissed him back passionately. He picked her up and carried her down the hall until he found her bedroom. He gently placed her on the bed and she pulled him down with her. Their lips reconnected as they sunk into the mattress. Elena removed his tie and pushed his suit jacket off of his shoulders. She threw them across the room before she focused on the buttons of his shirt. She managed to get his shirt off without removing her lips from his. They sat up slightly and Elijah reached around her back to undo the zipper of her dress.
"Are you sure?" He mumbled against her lips.
"I'm sure." She assured him. She maneuvered out of her dress and reached for his pants. "Are you?"
"I've never been more sure of anything in my life." Elena giggled as he reconnected their lips. Soon enough the rest of their clothes had disappeared and they spent the night tangled in Elena's bedsheets.
