A/N:
I just want to take the time out to thank you all for having supported me thus far. It's all because of your love that I can proudly say I've written another novel that hit that 1 million mark!
Thank you guys so so much. 💘
This book has been my source of happiness during this rough year and updating to see your thoughts brought me a sense of accomplishment I'll never be able to explain. I hope it has shed a ray of light on your life as well while reading.
Now let's pick up where we left off. 😉
Episode 60: Checkup
"There doesn't seem to be any major issues with her as far as we're concerned. It's also great that she's been responding so positively after the rabies vaccination. I'm guessing this isn't her first time since birth. If you'd both look here, you can notice that the chart below shows signs of malnourishment but it's at a moderate level so this shouldn't be anything to worry about with a good meal plan."
Emily listened keenly with the fluffy puppy in her arms.
Nicholas sat beside her with a matching expression of concentration on what they were being told by the expert.
As early as possible the next day, the two got up to meet their appointment that had been scheduled the night before with the nearest vet to have the puppy undergo a health exam. It was a necessary requirement if they were going to ensure her overall well-being and most importantly, if she was legally safe to bring back home.
"Thank you so much for all you've done, Dr. Gaughan."
The female veterinarian smiled politely behind her desk before placing down the chart to replace it with an x-ray of Aurora's body which the couple narrowed their eyes at.
"You said you've renamed her Aurora, right?"
Emily nodded.
"Well, whoever the owner was before never got around to having her microchipped so even if they change their minds and want a reunion with her the chances are next to none. This is where I advise you to be wise and do the opposite, especially with the procedures here, it would most likely be mandatory."
"A microchip?"
The doctor noticed the way the woman flinched slightly at the mention of something which was probably foreign to her. She had said this stray dog was going to be her first so it wasn't strange that she was unfamiliar with the social dynamics of catering to a pet.
"It's not as disturbing as it sounds. In fact, it's nothing like that at all. The microchip itself is very small - so small that it's inserted into the dog's skin through a sterile needle. It, in no way, brings harm to your pet. No anaesthetic is required and the procedure should cause no more discomfort than a standard vaccination. Of course, it is permanent. While it can't guide you to your dog's location, it does provide a way for you to be contacted, by almost any veterinarian or shelter, if your pup is brought in."
