Episode 8: Let's Call Off the Wedding

Stella had been bugging Jake all weekend about Emily's Metflix deal. She was arguing that she deserved the main role, especially after she had lost her contract with Janel.

To appease her anger, Jake tried to talk Emily into handing over the role to Stella as her boss. If she personally contacted the director that she didn't wish to work with him, then there would be no bad blood between him and Starz; it would just be an arrogant actress thinking she was better than their t.v. show. Metflix would be selectively offended and most likely singularly rule Emily out for life. It was a win-win situation.

"Emily, I'm the top man of Starz Entertainment. The jurisdiction of my workers lies with me, not you!" Jake was filled with anger as he looked at Emily.

What?

He must have heard her wrong.

There was no way Emily just said she going to sign the contract whether he liked it or not. Yeah right.

Over his dead body!

"Why must you steal Stella's shine?"

"Stella's shine? The deal was offered to me. Because my fans missed me and new fans want to see me on screen. How can you talk about this so easily as if I've snatched a contract that was reserved for her?"

"Stella needs this," he argued, "Someone on the production team said if you were to recommend Stella personally to replace you for the role, the director won't be angry."

"No." Emily said, standing by her decision.

"Emily-"

"Initially, I didn't believe any of the rumors regarding you and Stella, but the way you're acting right now is making me second guess myself. Why are you trying to steal my job and give it to her? She's not even desperate for a job as yet. Her most recent movie is still in theatres for Christ's sake!"

"If you really think that lowly of me, then maybe our wedding should be called off!" Jake used their wedding as a means to threaten Emily.

After all, all these years, she had been the one that stuck by his side willing to do anything. Why was she being so difficult?

He was going to show her that she should remember where she stood in this relationship.

Emily looked at Jake in dead silence.

Did he really think this was going to break her? Using their marriage as a hidden card?

Oh Jake, if you only knew.

With the prolonged silence, Jake assumed Emily had given up and was regretting going against him.

But he was in for the shock of his life when Emily nodded nonchalantly saying, "Okay, let's call off the wedding. I'll marry you when you start acting like the Jake I knew."

And with that, Emily left Jake with his mouth on the ground.

Like the Jake she knew? He thought with dubiousness.
