Episode 70: Accident

The moment Emily entered the building of Starz Entertainment, there was an uproar. They didn't bother to hide their hushed whispers and shocked expressions as the actress strutted through the building and towards the elevator. It was like they had seen a ghost and it was understandable. It had been a while since she had been here. So long that the employees thought it had been the end to her ties with the company like the rumors suggested. Guess they weren't very reliable seeing as she was here at the end of the day.

If only they knew that the woman was here for a reason beyond their expectations.

Emily didn't bother knocking on the door to his office - as if he deserved that kind of respect.

The woman had seen everything she needed to in this place anyway.

After inviting herself in, a head of brown raised and a pair of dark eyes locked her in from the spot she stood.

From the seat he held, Jake stood up and gave her a fake smile.

"Long time no see."

She walked over to the chair before him and took a seat.

The man watched her, awaiting some kind of reminiscent gaze or speech, but he was highly disappointed within the next second.

Emily regarded Jake with cold eyes as she folded her legs professionally. "Let's just get this over with."

His lips made a thin line at her attitude. Almost unwillingly he reached for the file in the drawer of his office's desk. He placed it in front of her with hard eyes before saying, "With signing this you're severing all ties with Starz Entertainment. Are you sure you're willing to do so?"

"I wouldn't be sitting here if I weren't, would I?" She couldn't help but snap and his brows flew up in surprise.

"You've changed." He noted, and it wasn't just her physical appearance.

The woman leant back in her chair passively. "People change not because they want to but because the situation requires them to. You have yourself to thank for the way I treat you now."

He scoffed. "You're always like this. Acting all high and mighty. It's like you can't help showing how much better you are than others."

"I've never acted conceited in your presence, Jake. Not once. You're the one who was delusional to think so because you always had an inferiority complex against me."

His mouth fell open.

"And for the record I don't act as if I'm better than you. I am better than you."

He bristled.

"This is what I'm talking about. You play the victim and then your inner devil comes out. No wonder everyone regards you as an ice queen."

"I didn't come here to argue with you about the past. I came here because of my future. Now could you please release those papers so I can take the necessary step towards it?"

With a forceful shove, the paper was on her side of the table. She didn't bother to give him the reaction he wanted. Silently, she flipped it open and began to read the contents carefully. Meanwhile, Jake was staring at her in discontent because of how good she looked. He didn't think he had ever seen this kind of glow coming from her. Not even when they were in a relationship. And because of that, his curiosity had his lips moving.

"You're dating again, aren't you?"

Her eyes halted on the last paragraph at the sound of his voice.
