Aella Theos jumped awake, sitting up in bed. She sighed, looking to Jared for comfort. His eyes were closed, his chest rising and falling in a pattern. He was peacefully asleep, his arm loosely wrapped around Aella.Aella looked outside, rubbing her eyes and then glancing at Jared's digital clock. 5 AM. Knowing she wouldn't be able to fall asleep again, she laid back down, snuggling into his chest. Jared was a heavy sleeper, he wouldn't wake.
Her mind flashed back to the dream, or rather nightmare, she had just awoken from. It was strange, not having anything to do with the battle. It was about a battle, that much was clear, but it wasn't against Victoria or the newborns.
The ground had been covered in snow, an army dressed in black cloaks heading Aella's way. They seemed like a cloud of smoke, slowly approaching. Aella stood next to Jared, Jared in his wolf form. Lyra was on her other side, a crossbow tucked under her elbow.
They were surrounded by people, not that Aella was able to see who they were. All she saw was the wolf pack, much larger than it was, standing behind them. And then it had changed and Aella watched as someone bit into the space between her neck and shoulder, pulling away as her knees hit the ground. Blood began streaming down her body as she stretched her hand out, trying to catch herself. She fell, her eyes wide open as the pain began and life was drained out of her.
Aella blinked the memory away. First of all, the dream had nothing to do with today so there was no reason for her to dwell on it. She could always talk to Alice about it and ask if she had seen anything without giving it away. It wasn't a premonition, it couldn't have been. At least she hoped it wasn't.
"Babe?" Jared's sleepy voice sounded, Aella stiffening as she realized that she had woken Jared up.
"I'm sorry, Jar, I didn't mean to wake you." The boy shrugged, pressing a kiss to her shoulder as he checked the time.
"S'okay, I had to get up anyways. Sam wanted us all there bright and early."
Jared stretched, Aella laughing at the marks she left on him. "Paul won't leave you alone today."
"I'm gonna be a wolf majority of the day. You, on the other hand, have to fight with that on display." Jared smirked as he rubbed his finger over the hickey on Aella's neck.
She gasped, standing up and all but running to Jared's mirror, groaning as she began to inspect the red skin. "Great." She muttered, glaring at Jared when he laughed.
Aella grabbed the nearest pillow, throwing it at Jared when he continued to tease her. He caught it with ease, holding it against his bare chest. "Oh, come on babe, don't be like that."
"You are such a tool." Aella straddled Jared's lap, pulling the pillow away from his grip and onto the floor. The shirt the she wore, his shirt, rode up on her thighs as she placed her legs on either side of him, her hands going to his shoulders.
He smiled at her, kissing her lightly. Aella pulled away, her face scrunched up. "Ew, Jar, we haven't even brushed our teeth."
He rolled his eyes, standing while hoisting Aella up. She squealed in surprise, tightening her hold on him as he carried her to the bathroom. There, he set her down on the toilet seat, grabbing his toothbrush and holding it up.
Aella laughed when he exaggerated the motions, brushing his teeth slowly. Once he finished, Aella brushed her own teeth, pecking Jared's lips when done.
"I'm starving." She commented, Jared groaning as he followed after her.
"You wake me up, get me in the mood, force me to get out of bed, and then want to head to Emily's? You're killing me, woman!"
Aella took Jared's shirt off, tossing it aside as she put her own clothes on. She pulled the black tank top over her head, smirking when she caught Jared's eye. She put on her hoodie, tapping Jared's chin while passing him.
"Close your mouth and get dressed. You said Sam wanted you there early."
Aella laughed, placing her hair in a high ponytail when Jared let out a frustrated shout. Teasing him was always fun for Aella, especially on such a tense day.
She heard the shower running, rolling her eyes as she scrolled through her phone. Only Jared would shower before a fight that would leave him dirtier than he was before. Aella planned on taking a relaxing bath after the battle to calm her nerves.
Jared came out minutes later, a towel around his waist and another, smaller towel wrapped around his neck. He began to dry the rest of his body off, grabbing one of the strawberries Aella was eating.
"Hey!" She yelled as he laughed, going off to get dressed. He returned, still shirtless but wearing a pair of shorts and shoes, grabbing Aella's hand. She stood up, pecking his lips once more.
"Ready?"
He nodded, connecting their lips again. "Let's go."
