Aella Theos stepped inside of Emily's, her hands wringing nervously. She had specifically picked a time when all the boys would be out, Jacob's pack training and Sam's pack having a beach day.
Emily stood in the kitchen, as expected, a wide grin on her face when she saw Aella. "Hey, El! I'm almost done with the garlic mashed potatoes, I'll serve you before the boys get here."
Aella chuckled, measly. "Thanks, Em. Actually, Emily, I need to ask you something."
Emily cleaned her hands on a towel, "Sure, what's up?"
"It's about imprints."
"Okay?"
"Would an imprint bond break if the imprints were in a long distanced space?"
Emily paused. "El, are you thinking of leaving Jared?"
Aella sighed. "I don't know if you knew this, but when the Renesmee fiasco happened, Jared got with Kim. And I just can't live with the uncertainty of their relationship anymore, it isn't allowing me to forgive him for that. Emily, before I moved here, I had plans to travel and be myself for once. Then I met Jared, and my future became our future. We're both so young and now we're engaged and I'm not sure I want that."
Emily turned to stove off, going to Aella and leading her to the couch. "Well, have you spoken to Jared about this?"
She scoffed. "Everytime I ask about Kim, he shuts it down and says he loves me and only me."
"Yeah, they tend to do that." Emily chuckled. "I used to feel the same way about Sam's feelings for Leah. Feelings I know that he still has, buried deep down. I felt the imprint forced his feelings."
"And how did you deal with that?"
Emily shrugged. "That day in the hospital after the accident, when I saw the way he looked at me. It was different from how he used to look at Leah, deeper."
"But he had already been with Leah, already opened that chapter." Aella realized, Emily nodding.
"El, you're right. You and Jared jumped into a committed relationship and you have a right to want to step back, and it is your choice to make. He will do whatever you ask of him, remember? If what you really want it to go, the imprint bond will survive, even if you both move on. It doesn't necessarily have to be romantic, you know that."
