I woke up in the morning and saw that Draco wasn't beside me anymore. I groaned and looked at my bedside table, the clock read 6:23. I got up from my bed and got ready. I took a shower and got dressed. I wore a slim-fitting grey silk dress. I looked in the mirror and saw that my eyes were red and puffy. I sighed and used my wand to cast a simple spell for some light makeup. I brushed my hair and brought it up to a sleek ponytail. I walked down to the dining table where my mother and Narcissa were talking. Draco was beside Narcissa and looked extremely bored. I sat in front of him and greeted everyone.
"Good morning, mother, good morning, Narcissa." I smiled politely.
"Did you sleep well, darling?" my mother inquired.
"Yes." I answered a little too quickly. The two women continued their conversation, leaving Draco and I out. Holly brought me my breakfast, a fruit bowl.
"You didn't greet me." Draco stated, poking his pancakes.
"I didn't?" I grinned.
"You should really start respecting your elders, Lessa." Draco smirked.
I scoffed, "You're only older than me by three months."
"Three months and two weeks, mind you." he corrected. "Especially after last night when-"
I kicked him under the table harshly that the table moved. Draco mumbled something under his breath about me having the strength of a troll. All of a sudden, our mothers seemed interested in our conversation.
"What happened last night?" Narcissa smirked into her coffee.
"Never too young huh?" Mother laughed.
"No, Mum!" I blushed, "it's nothing like that!"
"Or was it?" Draco teased.
I felt the blood rushing to my cheeks and I groaned in frustration.
"You know, Aaron and I were engaged when we were twelve." (Arranged marriage, common among purebloods.) Mother started, smiling at Narcissa. "But we never really got onto it until much older. Both of you on the other hand, aren't even engaged and you've already-"
"MUM!" I shouted, my face getting hotter by the second. I glanced at Draco to see that he too, was blushing. I couldn't look at Draco's face without it being awkward as our mothers were still talking about... stuff. I hadn't finished my breakfast when I excused myself.
I went back to my room and closed the door. I flopped back to my bed and groaned into my pillow. A few seconds later, I heard someone enter my room.
"Lessa." Draco called.
I threw the pillow at him, and he caught it perfectly. "What?"
"Why didn't you tell your mother about your dreams?" He asked.
"She probably already knows," I said, "being in the inner circle and all. I didn't want to worry her or make her ask me questions about him."
He nodded, "How's your shoulder?"
"Fine, it's barely visible." I answered. "Thanks to you."
"What can I say?" He smirked, sitting down on the bed. "I'm great at everything I do."
I scoffed. "How did you know how to heal? We haven't learnt anything that complicated yet."
He looked a little embarrassed and looked down. "I want to be a Mediwizard. Took extra lessons with Snape. But..." He trailed off.
"But what?" I asked, suddenly interested.
"My parents would never agree, seeing that 'Malfoys do not serve others'." He air quoted.
"Well, you don't exactly have to be the one serving people you know?" I said. "There are other options like experimenting with healing spells. Who can stop you?"
"Father. He would want me to take over the Malfoy business." He sighed.
"Right." I mentally slapped myself for being so oblivious. "He would want his only heir to continue the Malfoy empire."
"We should go down. The match is going to start soon, we have seats in the Minister's Box." He said proudly.
"I can't wait!" I exclaimed, ecstatic. I got up immediately and hooked my arm with Draco's. "Well? What are we waiting for?"
He chuckled and we rushed outside, to be welcomed by the hectic crowd. We approached our fathers who were talking with Fudge.
"My son, Draco." Lucius said proudly to the Minister. Draco shook hands with him.
"And my daughter, Alessa." Father introduced.
The Minister shook my hand as well and said, "You two make a beautiful couple."
I blushed and looked at Draco, who was trying to set things straight. "N-no, we're just-we're not-"
"Uh, we better get going." I dragged him towards the stadium. Lucius followed us a while after.
"Draco, you didn't tell me you and Alessa were dating." Lucius raised an eyebrow at the both of us.
"We aren't." I said.
"Just friends." Draco mumbled.
Lucius just looked down at our interlocked hands, "Of course you aren't." He said sarcastically. I let go of our hands instantly, blushing like a tomato. Draco glanced at our separated hands and looked slightly disappointed. We entered the grand stadium, filled with red and green banners supporting their teams. We walked up the stairs only to encounter the red headed peasants and Potter and the nosy muggleborn.
"How high up are we?" The redhead in our year, (Cohn? Don?) said.
"Well let's put it this way," Lucius' cane tapped the floor loudly, "if it rains, you'll be the first to know." Draco and I smirked, seeing our favorite punching bags withering.
"Our families are in the Minister's box." Draco boasted, taking my hand.
"Invitation by Cornelius Fudge himself." I added. I made eye contact with Potter and he looked disgusted with our clasped hands.
"Now, now children. There's no need to boast with these kinds of people." Lucius clicked his tongue.
"Weasley," Lucius faced the redhead father, "what did you have to sell to get seats for your whole family? Surely your house isn't worth this much?" Draco and I stifled a laugh, seeing his face turn red as his hair.
"YOU LITTLE-" Cohn (?) lunged at me all of a sudden. He tried to throw a punch, but Draco had damn good reflexes. He pulled me out of the way just enough for the weasel fall face first to the floor, on my feet.
"If you wanted to bow to us, you could have just asked." Draco scoffed.
"Could you bow a little lower though?" I taunted. Draco had his arms around my waist, we were so close I could feel him chuckle.
Potter helped the hopeless weasel up, dusting his friend's shirt. "You're better than this, Lessa." Potter said.
I scowled. Draco seemed angrier than I was. "And who gave you the right to call her by her nickname?" He spat.
"Because we're friends." Potter stupidly said. "Tell him, Lessa."
I sighed, rubbing my temples, "Not now, Potter." Draco seemed even angrier than before, so I pulled him away as fast as possible.
We started walking away from them. We walked in silence as Draco seemed deep in thought. I decided not to interrupt his train of thoughts. We arrived in the Minister's box and took our seats. I looked over to Draco who sat next to me. His pale complexion was scrunched up in confusion? anger? jealousy?
I took his hand in mine, making him look at me. "A sickle for your thoughts?"
"I can't believe you could-"
"Be friends with Potter?" I interrupted. He nodded. "We're just acquaintances, Draco, you won't have to worry about him replacing my best friend." I assured him. "Except maybe Daphne, she would love to take your place."
Draco smiled and kissed the back of my hand, our sign of agreement and forgiveness.
"Let the Quidditch World Cup begin!" Fudge announced.
