Alessa's POV
"We should get to class." Blaise quipped.
Draco checked his wristwatch, nodded, and said, "We have potions right now."
We left the Great Hall and headed towards the dungeons. We walked in our usual comfortable silence, strutting down the hallways as some first and second years gawked and whispered or ran away. My eyes darted around the halls. Was I looking for someone? Right. Harry. We passed the Weasels, Don looking like he hadn't slept in days. I didn't see Harry with them, which struck me as odd. We walked without an exchange of words, although I definitely heard snickering.
"Was it just me, or did the Weasels forget to take a bath?" Blaise pinched his nose and pretended to barf.
"No, I definitely smelled something." Daphne giggled.
I slowed down my walking, following everyone from a distance. I needed to find Harry. We arrived a little late to potions and Snape let us off easily—obviously. Did I think it was unfair? Yeah, but those stupid, arse sucking Gryffindors always get special treatment from DUMBLEDORE. The literal headmaster. Gah! They think that just because Harry is brave enough to break some rules, he's automatically praiseworthy? What a load of dung!
I must have had a pretty prominent frown on my face, as Draco poked my shoulder and asked, "Hey, what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing," I grumbled, "just devising a revenge plan to get back at those brainless Gryffindors."
"I'd like to be a part of that." He chuckled.
Once potions ended, we parted ways. Daphne wanted to take a nap (before lunch??), and the boys said that they were going to sneak out to Hogsmeade. I decided to skip Astronomy and headed to the library. I immediately spotted Harry and Longbottom sitting in a corner of the library. I can't freely converse with Harry right there and then, there were too many students.
I picked out a book about magical plants and flipped to the page about gillyweed. I guessed that Longbottom would have gone to the section I was in and waited for his appearance. Once I saw his silhouette, I made a big show of ripping off a page in the book. It was just the page before the actual page about gillyweed. I hid behind a shelf and saw Longbottom take the bait. How gullible.
He turned the book to the page I ripped out, and it was like a lightbulb lit off in his head. He hurried back excitedly, hopefully showing the information to Harry. I looked at the clock. I had so much time to spare. I decided to stay back and read some books. I went to the restricted section and picked out a book about dark spells and...even darker spells. I easily undid the spell made to lock the book with a snap of my fingers.
Every single table in the library was occupied, which was odd, as everyone should be in classes. I decided to sit on the table with a bunch of giggling Ravenclaws. They may have not sensed my presence because they continued gossiping and being loud. In a library. They were such a nuisance. I shot them a glare that would have drilled holes into their head. They squealed and scampered away like lizards.
I didn't have to look up from my book to realize that everyone was deliberately avoiding my table—no, me. For Merlin's sake. I saw Longbottom's chubby figure run past me and out. Visibly shaking?? I grumbled under my breath and kept on reading. A screeching sound startled me.
"Whoops. I did not mean to make such a noise." A voice said from in front of me.
"SHHH." The librarian shushed.
I buried my head behind my book. "What do you want, Harry?"
"Uhm, well, I know that this is weird of me to ask, but—"
"Well, we agreed to never talk in public, so asking anything right now would count as weird." I whisper-shouted.
He cleared his throat, "Right, then I'll make this fast."
"Go ahead." I lowered my book.
"So, where would you, per se, find gillyweed?" He said under his breath.
"Gillyweed?" I said nonchalantly.
"Yeah, uhm, it's some sort of seaweed slime sorta plant." He mumbled.
"I know what gillyweed is." I rolled my eyes. "Well, I could have it shipped from outside, but if I were to assume that you need it soon, tomorrow perhaps, then I would find these sort of plants in Professor Snape's ingredient closet."
"Of course!" Harry shouted.
"SHH!"
"Right, I'm sorry."
"Snape never leaves it unlocked. If you were to have something that would allow you to sneak past while he is in the closet and take what you need without him seeing you, that would make everything much easier." I gave him a knowing smile.
"Thank you so much Les!" He stood up and ran off.
"Ew." I said, revolted. Did he really call me...Les??
I went back to the restricted section to return the book I 'borrowed'. As I was casting the spell to lock it back up, I felt a chill run down my spine. Fog started to appear from the corners of the shelves. I dropped the book I was holding and ran back to the direction of the library. But I couldn't find the exit. My vision was covered with fog. I took out my wand and held it in front of me.
"Ventus!" I pointed in front of me.
The fog cleared up a little and I could see a silhouette in front of me. It was a large pot and a...rat-looking person in front of it. The rat-person was holding a gruesome looking baby. Both of them suddenly locked eyes with me and fog started coming out of their mouths. They were chanting something. My grip on my wand was loosening up, my vision blurry, and my head was spinning. I couldn't breathe. I fell to the floor and gasped for air. I reached out for my wand right before my eyes rolled to the back and I passed out.
A/n:
I'm sorry if making mc pass out at every single chapter is boring to you :'). I mean, if Harry passes out every few pages why can't mc.
On an unrelated note, my exams lasted 3 to 4 weeks, yeah it's dramatic asf idk why its like that. I'll try update more often, maybe! Don't expect a steady routine though.
