This chapter reviews Alessa's earlier days. Read to understand most of her fist years in Hogwarts.

Alessa's POV

"Why in Salazar's name do we have to do this?" I groaned to Daphne. The Slytherins and Gryffindors were pent up in an old classroom, waiting for the Yule Ball to be announced.

Her eyes were puffy and red. She hadn't been able to sleep well after the events that followed her yesterday.

"I mean most of us can dance." Daphne shrugged. She held a handkerchief I gave her, already wet with tears.

"But those stupid Gryffindors are obviously uneducated." I scoffed.

I looked over at Daphne, who was staring at Blaise's direction. He sat two rows below us with Draco. He was chatting up a Slytherin girl in our year. I remember her as Arabella Gibbon.

"Gibbon." Daphne stated without emotion.

"They're friends, Daphne." I sighed. "I think you should just apologize and reconcile. You don't have to date again but just stay friends maybe?"

"He didn't look like he wanted to when he stormed off." Daphne sniffed.

"Apologize at least?" I said uncertain.

"You're lucky you have Draco." She said.

I smiled and glanced at him. He looked back and winked at me.

"If I know you, Daphne," I started. "You'd be over him in no more than two weeks."

"Harder because we were friends." She mumbled.

Snape flounced in the classroom, followed by Professor McGonagall. All conversations stopped. "Greetings students. I am here to announce the upcoming ball, the Yule Ball." He said monotonously. "It is a tradition to celebrate the Triwizard Tournament."

"It is only for fourth years and above, although you may invite second and third years." McGonagall added.

Chatter arose in the crowds. Girls looked at boys–boys turned their heads down.

"Draco is going to go with me." Pansy giggled on the row behind me.

I turned around. "Who'd want to go with you?" I smirked.

"Draco will." She lifted her chin. "He wouldn't want to go with a street rat like you." Her friends giggled at her comment.

I scowled. "You're one to talk pug face." I spat.

"Quiet, students!" Snape shouted. "Now, pair up and start dancing."

I stood up and hurried towards Draco. Unfortunately, Pansy rushed past me and went up to Draco first. She was all over him, touching his chest and face. Draco pushed her off scornfully and walked over to where I was standing. Pansy glared at me.

"Who's the street rat now?" I mocked loudly. Some people laughed. She looked over at me in anger and I only smirked back.

"Did I tell you how hot you are when you do that?" Draco gave me a short kiss.

"Keep it in your pants Malfoy!" Someone shouted from the back.

Draco ignored his comment and walked me towards the middle of the floor. We awaited Snape's instructions.

"Boys, place your hand on the girl's waist. Girls, place your hands on the boy's shoulder." He sighed and waved his wand to turn on some music.

We had danced a lot of times, so it came naturally to both of us. He gently held my waist and swayed to the music. I placed my arm on Draco's shoulder and the other was clasped around Draco's free hand.
