Colby ran over and pulled me off of Jake's back and slung me over his own shoulder. He sprinted out to the backyard, me screaming the entire time, then jumped into the pool I didn't even know existed while holding me.

Before I came up for air, I could hear everyone else plunging into the water around us and playful screams coming up from the surface.

            "COLE!" I screamed.

"Yes, Vanessa?" he asked innocently. "Is there a problem?"

"Yes, Colby, there is a problem," I said.

"And what might that be?" he asked. I shook my head and pulled myself out of the pool. I bent down and reached my hand out to help Colby pull himself up. Right when he got a good grip and I felt him starting to pull himself up, I immediately jerked my hand away and watched him fall back into the water.

"Okay, there's no longer a problem," I laughed when he came back up.

"Do you really think you're going to win this one?" he asked, quickly hopping out of the water.

"I think we both know that I'm going to try my damn best to," I answered. Colby chased me around the edge and I knew he would catch me soon, so right before he reached out to grab my arm, I flung myself sideways into the pool.

"Missed me!" I teased, swimming toward the center of the pool. I looked over to see Kat on Sam's shoulders and Devyn on Corey's, playing a very aggressive game of chicken. I saw Jake and Tara in the corner, wondering what they were doing, then watched Jake launch Tara at least four feet in the air.

"Did you see that?" I asked, turning back to Colby.

"Yes, but please don't ask me to try that. I do not have any upper body strength," he answered. I looked at his muscular arms and chest.

            "I think you're lying," I said.

"Do you?" he asked. I got back out of the pool, grabbed one of his arms, and then let myself fall backward, intentionally pulling on him as hard as I could with all of my weight.

"Oh, fuck!" he yelled. I would have fallen backward and hit my head if he wasn't able to pull me back up, but I knew he would. He yanked his arm backward and pulled me back up so hard that I slammed into his chest and knocked us both backward into the pool.

"I knew you had some upper body strength," I said, swimming over and climbing onto Colby's shoulders.

"Or maybe I just got a crazy adrenaline rush of strength when you did that because you literally could have fallen and split your head open on the concrete," he said.

"Hm, maybe. Let's give it another go, then," I said, hopping off of him and climbing back out of the pool.

"What, the same thing?" he asked.

"No," I said. "Don't let me hurt myself," I laughed, stepping back to give myself a running start.

"That is a TERRIBLE thing to say or count on!" yelled Colby.

"Maybe," I said. I ran full speed toward the pool and launched myself into the air, spread out so that I would land a massive belly flop if Colby didn't catch me.

In a split second, I looked down and saw Coby's arms shoot up under me and catch my sides before we both plunged underwater.

"See? Upper body strength. You caught me even after I threw myself into the air, then only went underwater because you pulled me under with you, and you had about three feet and the force of gravity working against you. And the force of gravity is 9.8 meters per second squared, so those were some impressive reflexes," I said.
