"Brother, chill," said Jake.
"He helped her out, man," said Kevin.
"Yeah, but he would have helped her more if he hadn't just fucking left her in a god damn pit in the middle of the woods!" Colby yelled.
"Colby, I told him to leave," I said.
"He didn't have to fucking listen!" Colby said.
"Baby, stop," I said.
"No! You could have died out there!" he said.
"He waited for me, I was only out there alone for thirty minutes," I said.
"No, he waited for thirty minutes and then took another thirty to get to you. A full hour. That's a long time to be alone in the woods," said Colby.
"Okay, well it already happened and there's nothing we can do about it now," said Jake.
"She's okay, that's what's important," said Kevin.
"It's my fault I got hurt, anyway," I said.
"And it's Corey's fault that you were left unconscious in the woods for an hour. What if there was an animal that found and hurt you?" Colby asked.
"There wasn't. Like Jake said, it happened. It's over. Let it go," I said.
"Are you seriously not mad at him right now?" Colby asked.
"At Corey? No! Why the fuck would I be? He saved my life," I said.
"After extensively endangering it!" exclaimed Colby.
"I'm going to leave for right now," Corey muttered.
"No, you're not. Colby is," I said.
"Me? Are you fucking kidding?" Colby yelled.
"No! I'm not! You come in here and start screaming at him when all he did was help. He left because I screamed at him to leave me alone, even though I was the one making a bad decision, okay? Get out," I said.
"I—fine," Colby said. He got up off my bed and stormed out of the room.
"Ness, you didn't have to do that," Corey said quietly.
"I know. Just like you didn't have to wait for me," I said. "I don't care what he says, you did the right thing. You gave me some space, but not too much. You're why I'm here and okay. Thank you."
"I think it's the least he could do considering you've saved his life about a thousand times," said Jake.
"Kevin, will you go talk to him please?" I asked.
"Of course," Kevin said, leaving the room. I took a deep breath and rubbed my eyes.
"So you're all good?" I asked, turning to Sam.
"Yes, I'm good. I can leave once I finish with the medical paperwork," said Sam.
"Okay, you can go do that if you want. Could you send Devyn, Tara, and Reggie in here?" I asked.
"Sure thing," Sam said, leaving the room.
"This is a mess," I sighed.
