*Mark's POV*

*Beep Beep Beep*

"Urgh...."

I opened my eyes slightly and yawned.

"I'm up, I'm up..."

I announced to my alarm which was still ringing loudly. While moving weakly my upper body towards the alarm I turned it off.

"Off..."

I sighed and fell on my bed again. Another day, another monotonous day. I got up from my bed, completely this time and headed to the bathroom.

"Every day is the same" I thought to myself while brushing my teeth. "Get up, go to work, come home, fall asleep and then repeat." I spit the mixed water with toothpaste in the sink and continued. "The thing although that makes every day unbearable is the fact that I don't get to choose how I will live it. I'm just obeying others' orders, I don't get to make my own decisions, because it's either this way or no way. Take it or take it. And the most frustrating thing is that I can't do anything to change it." I wiped my mouth and washed my face.

After that I brushed carefully my brown hair and wore my work clothes.

I worked at my father's hotel, mainly as his personal secretary but lately he changed my position to a receptionist, however my job changes regularly, based on what needs to be done. I don't have a stable position, not that I want one but still...

I took my keys, my jacket and left the apartment.

--

I started driving to the hotel while listening to music. The weather was chilly today, which was completely normal, taking into consideration the fact that yesterday night was raining. Even though the atmosphere was filled with gray and deep white clouds, it was still beautiful. The sky was ethereal, although due to the somehow cold weather not everyone would be able to appreciate it. Sometimes you have to look up in order to escape the reality you live, you can feel your body flying and your thoughts travel. Or at least that's just me, and my own way of coping with the dull, suffocating life I feel I'm living.

I was so absorbed by my thoughts that I didn't notice a pedestrian passing the road. I quickly hit the brakes to stop the car and looked at him. His expression was blank, as if he didn't care about the fact that I almost hit him. The only thing that betrayed his emotions, was that he opened his eyes slightly more, probably shocked about the fact that I almost hit him.

I nodded my head, trying to quietly apologize to the man but he ignored me and just continued walking.

I lifted both of my eyebrows, surprised by his neutral reaction and started driving again.

--

After leaving my car in the hotel's parking, I entered the building from it's main gate. I was so used to this place that seeing it, didn't surprise me anymore. Instead being here made my stomach turn, I didn't want to be here, but I couldn't do otherwise. I took the elevator to visit my father's office. My palms got sweaty and my heart started beating faster, I didn't know why I felt like that every time I was going to face my father.

The elevator stopped and I stepped out of it, heading to my final destination.

I knocked the wooden, shiny door hesitantly before entering the room. Then I opened the door.

"Who is it?"

"Good morning to you too."

"Good morning father!"

I said as cheerfully as I could.

"Oh, it's you Mark."

He answered while looking at some papers, not bothering to face me.
