Twas the first spring after the dwarves had reclaimed their home and Dale had been fully reconstructed and Bard had taken charge. The battle was long and perilous, much blood was spilled but not in vain. Many services of respect had taken place for the dead, they were celebrated as hero's who went out in glory.

Here you stat, inside of your home feeling awfully ill for the third day in a row. "Maybe it is all of the pollen in the air." you thought aloud as you looked out the opened window across the room. "My love, are you awake?" you heard his gravely voice call out as the door squeaked open. You turned to see your husband leaning in with a grin playing on his lips. "Yes, darling. I was just enjoying the breeze" he stepped in and closed the door behind him. He quickly walked over and plopped down beside you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders pulling you into his side.

"You slept in quite a bit, are you feeling unwell?" He tilted his head to get a clear look of your face. You smiled reassuringly and shook your head "Nay, I am well. I think it must be the pollen in the air. This is the first spring after such a horrid winter after all" you nuzzled your nose against his stubbled cheek. His heart was swollen with his love for you, no matter the years you have been together you never fail to fill his belly with butterflies.

He lean turned his head and pressed a gentle kiss to your temple. "Where are the children?" you had been surprised that none of your children had run in to greet you like they normally did. "Sigrid has gone out to meet Fili" he said seeming a bit upset, it was hard for him to see his daughter grow up and fall in love. " And Tilda and Bain have gone out to the valley with Kili for archery lessons" he said with a sigh. You reached up and cupped his cheek "You have to let them grow up, My love.  Archery isn't that dangerous, they can handle themselves, especially since Kili is there." you caressed his cheek with your thumb.

"And we know that Fili is a good man. He will take care of Sigrid no matter what." as you finished speaking you leaned forward to meet his lips in a short but sweet kiss. The nausea had finally subsided and you stood up, taking your husbands hand and pulling him up with you. "Well let us go and have breakfast together. We don't get much time together like this" you mumbled and he smiled and followed closely as you led him to the dining room.

The mixing of smells seemed to turn your stomach again, the nausea returning even worse than before. You didn't want to worry Bard, you knew he had a long day of work in the city and if he saw you weren't feeling well he would drop it all to stay with you. So, you clenched your jaw and tried your best to stay composed. Bard pulled your chair out and once you sat he pushed you in a bit before sitting beside you.

You thought it best to just eat some bread with jam so as to not upset your stomach. You felt the back of bards hand caress your cheek, tucking your hair behind your ear. "You sure your alright, love? You are hardly eating and you are looking pale." he had concern swirling in his blue green eyes. You smiled and rubbed your cheek against his palm "Do not worry, I am alright. I promise you" he sighed and nodded.

After breakfast he pressed a kiss to your forehead before heading out. You sat at the table for a bit longer hoping that you could call this sick feeling. You couldn't understand what was going on, maybe you had eaten something bad? It wasn't like a cold, maybe a stomach bug. as you sat there wondering you had an epiphany. This sickness was familiar... It was like the morning sicknesses you had when you were pregnant with your other children. "Oh, gods" you muttered and stood up carefully, still feeling dizzy.

"Mum do you need help?" Bain had walked in, bow still hanging on his back, and seen you struggling. Bain came over and took your hand "Let me help you" "Ever the gentleman you've become, Bain" earning a shy smile, letting him help you up to your room. Once he had helped you lay down he brought you a glass of water. "My sweet boy, send for the doctor please. And by no means tell your father" He tilted his head, making the exact same concerned expression as his father. "Go on now" "Yes mum..I-i'll be as fast as i can" he rushed out of the room, clearly concerned for you well being.

Not long after you son returned, nearly crashing through the door with doctor Emery close behind "I got the doctor mum!" he panted out. You nodded and smiled "Wait in the hall my darling" to which he furrowed his brows, he wanted to stay here and make sure you were okay but he knew better than to go against your wishes and he stepped out, closing the door behind himself.

After a thorough examination, poking and prodding, and much discomfort you had found out you were indeed with child again. You laid back as Doctor Emery made her way out you saw that now all three of your children were waiting outside the door and they all rushed in. "mumma! What is wrong?" "Mum, did you find out what is wrong" "Ma are you alright? Should i send for father?" they all spouted simultaneously. "now, now my children come sit with me" you pat the bed. Tilda came and sat across your lap, Sigrid sat on the bed to the left of you and Bain had come up on your right.

You gently ran your hand across tilda's head, smoothing her hair down. Sigrid laid her head on your chest and Bain had his cheek to your shoulder. "You all know I love you very very much. Much more than I can put into words. And nothing and no one will ever change that, yes?" all nodding but staying quiet, worried of what you might tell them. You smiled softly "You all will be given another sibling..." all of their faces lit up "Truly?! Oh i hope it is a girl! please let it be a girl!" Tilda begged as she lightly tugged on your sleeve. "I cannot wait! I hope it is another brother" Sigrid said with a smile as she laid her hand on your belly. "Me too!" Bain said with a wide grin.

"We were all worried that you had been ill with something horrid" Bain said with a sigh of relief  as he sprawled out on the bed. The girls nodded "But we are more than glad of this news mother!" Sigrid beamed and Tilda nodded quickly. " I am glad you are all happy. But i want you all to swear secrecy no one is to tell father, understood?" "Yes, mum Da wont hear a peep!" they all said with a grin

"What is it I wont find out?" you all turned quickly to see Bard standing in the door way with a smile tugging on the corners of his mouth. You and the children all looked at each other and then they all ran out of the room with little laughs leaving their lips "Nothing, da!"

"Turning my own children against me, love?" "Never~" you said with a smirk. "Hmm, you sound suspicious" he pushed the door shut with his foot and made his way over to you and sat down beside you and cupped your cheek gently in his large, calloused hand. "I ran into doctor Emery on my way home, She said you had sent for her but even she wouldn't tell me what ails you..." you turned your face in his hand and kissed his palm.

"I told you I was alright didn't I? What I've got is nothing to worry over...In fact i think it is something to celebrate." You reached out and took his other hand in yours, bringing it to you lips to kiss his knuckles before leading it down to rest on your belly.  His eyes widened and his mouth hung open a bit. "Y-you don't mean-" you nodded before he could finish. He let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. You were going to have another little symbol of your love running around. His eyes filled with tears and you pulled him down for a gentle kiss. When he pulled from the kiss he let out a breathy laugh.

He looked up at you with eyes full of love and adoration. "I cannot believe it... To have another munchkin.." he moved away and knelt on the bed beside you, tugging your loose tunic up to reveal your soon to be swollen belly. He peppered kisses across the skin with utmost care. "Y/n, you are the best thing to happen to me...I'm such a lucky man.." he moved away from your stomach and laid beside you.

He glanced to the door and saw it was cracked and three pairs of eyes were peeking in. "Come on my little ones.." they all busted into the room and snuggled up with you and Bard. Bard wrapped his arms around you and the children and pressed kisses to all of your foreheads.

"You have given me so much... You all are my Blessing"
