A few hours later and it was 5. Cherry started packing up and told Melly "Want a ride home" ?

Melanie looked at Sodapop in the corner of her eye and saw a look begging her to stay. "No, I need to walk off the milkshake I had earlier."

Cherry patted Melly's stomach "There is nothing to lose ,but okay."

Melly laughed "Okay bye." She hugged Cherry.

Cherry hugged her back and whispered "Don't let these boys hurt you."

Melanie pulled away and nodded "Drive safe."

As soon as Cherry left, Melly started to grab her things. Sodapop helped grab her stuff. They both started walking home together and right when they were about to turn on Mellys street, Melanie stopped Sodapop.

"Uh I think you need to stop here."

Sodapop looked confused "Why"? He looked over and saw Mel's dad on the front porch reading a newspaper and smoking a cigar.

Melanie looked down "I just don't know how he will react if he sees me with you."

Sodapop nodded "Uh okay. But your gonna tell him soon, right"?

Melanie smiled "Of course, but let's just not let him find out by seeing us together."

Sodapop grinned and kissed her cheek "Okay. See ya later."

Melly kissed his cheek "Okay bye." Sodapop strolled down the street.

Melanie straightened out her skirt and started to walk to her house. She opened the gate and said "Hi dad."

He smiled when he stood up "Hi dearie, how was work"?

Melanie kissed her dad's cheek "Good, we sold half of the stock we just got yesterday."

Mr. Pancetta pinched Mellys cheek "That's my girl. Come on in, your mother is making roast for dinner."

Melanie linked arms with her father and walked inside.

Meanwhile Cherry crossed her arms and rolled up her car  window "I knew Melly was hanging out with that no good dirty greaser."

Bob nodded "I have him covered."

Cherry shook her head "No Bob. Leave this one to me." She was thinking " Next rally, I will expose Melly and the greaser. "

Bob nodded "Fine but if I see him in the streets alone." Melanie

Cherry started the car and drove off "Wait until the night of the next rally."

Melanie watched the sun set from her balcony and smiled.  Then she remembered Dally saying, that the boy SOCS would team up on the defense less greasers. She felt her heart sink and she turned away and thought "Why am I with these people"? She walked over to her mirror and put on Sodapop's leather jacket he had given her. She laughed to herself as she thought, "Melly Pancetta, the richest greaser with the best boyfriend."

Her bedroom door opened and she immediately hid the jacket from the person coming in.

It was her mom. She stood up behind Melly in the mirror "Sweetie, I want to apologize for how I acted the other day."

Melanie looked away "Mom, please don't start."

Her mother grabbed the brush and started brushing Mellys hair "Honey I have to. Your all I have left, after we lost-"

Melanie cut her off "Mom I don't like talking about this."

Mrs. Pancetta ignored her daughter "You know very well that a week from now we will celebrate him. You better bring your friends. And that boyfriend of yours."

Melly turned around "Boyfriend"?

Mrs. Pancetta smiled "You didn't think I knew. I saw him kiss you. I saw him give you that jacket. I saw it all."

Melly smirked "You want to know what I think about that"?

Her mom nodded "Yes."

Melanie laughed "That you stalk your daughter too much."

Mrs. Pancetta hugged Melly "Honey, I missed hearing that sound of your laughter."

Melanie raised an eyebrow "What do you mean"?

Her mom started to brush Mellys hair again "That was true laughter right there. The one you shared with your brother."

Melanie changed the subject "I'm joining the cheerleading term again."

" That's wonderful. " replied her mother

Melly yawned "Oh I'm getting tired, I'm gonna excuse myself so I can take a shower."

Mrs.Pancetta rubbed her daughter's cheek "Alright see you later."

Sodapop say on the couch with Steve and Two-Bit.

Steve was still upset over the perfume incident "And when I told her to stop, she raised an eyebrow and continued spraying."

Sodapop nodded, he wasn't really listening but he thought it would be best so Steve wouldn't get mad at him. He thought about Melly and her rejoining the cheerleading squad. Sodapop smiled at the thought of Melly in a cheerleader outfit.

Steve told Sodapop "What are you so happy about"?

Sodapop snapped out of it "Oh nothing."

Two-Bit smiled "What is it"?

Steve nodded "Oh I know. It's because your dating SOC girl."

Two-Bit gasped "You two got together. Look at that I'm a matchmaker. "

Sodapop went red "Steve are you serious"?

Steve continued "Oh Two-Bit you should see how excited he gets when he sees her. He stops this gruff attitude and is all like Melly oh you sweet angel"!

Two-Bit laughed "Sodapop dumbed down for a girl"?

Dally walked in "She might be the only SOC I can tolerate."

Sodapop hid his face "Steve look what you started."

Two-Bit patted Sodapop "It's so nice to be in love ain't it Sodapop."

Steve chuckled "I actually like her. She laughs at my jokes. Even if I am making fun of her"!

Two-Bit nodded "I have got to meet her."

Sodapop shook his head "You mind of ruined her reputation Two-Bit. I don't know if she likes you."

Two-Bit stood up "Shoot, Sodapop everyone likes me. Except for the male SOCS."

Dally kicked the back of Two-Bits knees which made him fall "Yes Two-Bit everyone likes you."

Two-Bit stood up and straightened his collar "Ya see even Dally agrees with me. And he's an expert."

Sodapop smiled at Two-Bit "Well she is joining the cheer squad. Maybe you can go to the next football game."

Dally laughed "How about the whole gang comes. I'm sure your brothers will be pleased to meet this girl."

Sodapop nodded "Okay fine. Everyone can meet her."

Two-Bit slapped Sodapops back "But we can't touch her."

Sodapop glared at him " Two-Bit I swear if you touch her. "

Two-Bit backed up "I'm just kidding, it's a joke."

Sodapop smiled "Well then it's a date."
