Melanie wiped off the beadlets of sweat that built up on her forehead as she finished the cheer practice. Cherry sat next to her and started tying her shoes.

"Hey Melly, the rallys on Friday."

Melly smiled "Okay thanks."

She was about to get up but Cherry grabbed her arm. Too hard. " I want you to do the flip. And Phillip over there will catch you. "

Melanie nodded and pulled from Cherry's grip "Err okay. I have to go."

Cherry dug her nails into Mellys skin "Anything you want to tell me. Like with any boys." 

Melly raised an eyebrow "Can you stop scratching me." She got up and walked off to go to her next class.

Cherry held her head on her hands "She didn't lie ,but she didn't tell the truth either." Then she walked over to Phillip. " Phillip, Melly thinks your going to catch her. Don't catch her. " then she muttered to herself "We will see her little lover boy save her then."

Phillip rubbed his neck "What if she doesn't land it."

Cherry glared at Phillip "I'm the captain. I will take care of it."

At the DX, when Melanie was out dealing with the truck who delivered items. Cherry went up to Sodapop "I have an idea" !

Sodapop rolled his blue eyes "I don't want in."

Cherry sighed "It has to do with Melanie."

Sodapop leaned forward "I'm all in."

Cherry clapped her hands "Good. Then listen. There is a Dally this Friday. And I think it would be super cute that when Melly does the flip, you catch her. I'm front of everyone, to express your love for her."

Sodapop bit his lip "I don't know. She doesn't want anyone knowing about 'us' yet."

Cherry smiled "But she already told everyone. She wants to marry you." Cherry covered her mouth " Oops did I say too much"?

Sodapop grinned "Really she told everyone. Well I guess I will do it."

Cherry winked at him "Okay. It's gonna be the final part. So when I do the handstand in front of everyone. Start making your way down."

Sodapop blushed with pride "Alright. Okay I will do it Friday."

Cherry walked off and started doing her make-up in the nearest mirror just as Melly walked in.

She smiled at Sodapop and then said "Cherry, your getting paid to work, not to look pretty."

Cherry stared at her through the mirror "My looks will bring a lot of customers ."

Melly rolled her eyes "Okay just don't forget to mark off the boxes you stock."

Cherry laughed "Funny of you to think I would lift up a box."

Melanie walked over to Cherry "Cherry. What are you putting on your face"?!

Cherry held up a jar of orange-brown liquid. "This. It says it brings out the color of-of. Wait what is this word."

Melanie immediately grabbed the jar "Cherry that says Galvanic Cell"! 

Cherry raised her eyebrows "Isn't that a cell in your face."

Melly shook her head and yelped worried"Cherry, that's the scientific name for battery. This liquid is for car batteries"!

Cherry screamed and said "My face is burning"!

Melanie grabbed her water bottle and poured the water in Cherry's face. Cherry moaned in pain as Melly dragged her outside to spray her face with hose. After 10 minutes of water, Melly stopped spraying Cherry's face. Cherry trembled because she was more wet than dry. Melanie knelt down next to her "Are you okay"?

Cherry nodded slowly "Yeah I guess I'm fine. I just want to go home."

Melanie lightly smiled "I think that would be the best idea."

She drove Cherry home and later came back to the DX to clean up the mess. She started mopping up the floor when two hands set on her waist. She turned around and saw Sodapop "Why are you still here? I told everyone they could go home after the incident."

Sodapop hugged her "Had to say Good Night, to my little hero."

Melanie held her head "It was all my fault. I'm the one who changed the fluid to that jar ,so I could put it in smaller containers."

Sodapop laughed "Melly, it's not your fault your dad hired an idiot."

Melly started laughing too "Why did Cherry even put liquid from a car shop on her face"!

Sodapop nodded as he laughed even harder "I had no idea you knew that much about cars."

Melanie shook her head "I don't, I just know all the products in my dad's shop."

Sodapop pulled the mop out of Mellys hand "You know. You looked really pretty while you saved Cherry."

Melanie grinned "Yeah right, me freaking out. Not knowing whether Cherry's skin was gonna stay in her face or melt off."

Sodapop turned on the radio and smiled "My mom loved this song."

Melly saw Sodapops passionate eyes stare into hers "I really like this song too."

Sodapop rested his hands on Mellys waist and started moving their bodies side to side. "Wanna dance"?

Melly smiled as she moved her body to the tempo "Sure. I didn't know you liked to dance."

Sodapop twirled her " Theres lots of things you don't know about me. But I do want you to find out. "

Melanie giggled as she rested her arms in his shoulders "Where'd you learn to dance like this."

Sodapop whispered "That is something that will have to wait to know until later."

Melly blushed "Sodapop your making me blush."

Sodapop smiled and started to sing along to the music "Put your head on my shoulder."

Melanie replied "Hold me in your arms, baby."

The song ended and Sodapop smiled as he picked Melanie up and said "I'm so lucky to have you."

Melanie grinned as she ran her fingers through his hair "Sodapop. I'm the lucky one."

Sodapop pulled her into a kiss and Melanie kissed him back. The kids they shared wasn't a childish one, like Melly has had before. It was a strong and passionate one. Melanie and Sodapop both  had a disease and it is spelled "L-O-V-E"
