The whole gang was at Mellys house. They were all enjoying the T.V and some food. Darry and Steve set a bet on who was going to win the football game. It was the New York Giants versus the Chicago bears. Steve, Dally, and if course Johnny were for the new York Giants while The Curtis Boys, Two-Bit, and Melly places their bet on the Bears. everyone was in team spirit. Steve was wearing an "I ❤ New York shirt" and Dally was wearing a jersey Buck had given him. The Curtis Brothers were wearing jerseys and Melly was wearing bear ears with a jersey. Two-Bit was in an actual Bear costume!

Melly was in the kitchen getting more snacks as ferocious yells were made.

Two-Bit cheered "YAY TOUCHDOWN FIRST QUARTER"!

Melly cheered from the kitchen "Go Bears"!

Angry mutters were heard from Steve and Dally. Then out of nowhere they cheered "TOUCHDOWN FOR THE GIANTS"!

Melly groaned "We were just going easy on y'all."

Darry agreed "Yeah we totally let you cut through."

Dally fought off the comments "We just kicked you guy's ass"!

In the second quarter, the Giants were the only ones to score.

Melly was getting nervous but she just said "We was going easy, don't get to excited."

Dally laughed "Yeah sure thing. We gonna see who wins." while commercials all the boys dashed to the bathroom and they were all banging on the door " Hurry up the game is about to start and I ain't gonna miss a second of your cheating team "!

"Cheating! We see you guys just running the ball"!

" That ain't cheating! Your team can't even catch the ball"!

"Well you can't catch any girls"!

Melly stopped them "Enough! No matter who wins, even though we know the Bears are.-"

Dally cut her off "Shut up"!

Melly smiled "As I was saying, We are all still a gang no matter what."

The boys faces all warmed up after that.

"I guess your right,."

" Yeahh. "

Out of nowhere a voice yelled "The games back on"!

Nearly all the boys trampled her.

" GO BEARS"!

"GO GIANTS"!

Melly laughed "so much for being a gang." She called after them. She sat down on the couch and cheered when the Bears earned a touchdown 3rd quarter.

It was the final quarter and everyone sat down (hairs on the edge) while watching this quarter. Dally kept telling "YOU IDIOTS, PASS THE BALL AND YOU AIN'T GONNA DROP IT" !

Two-Bit smiled "What did I say a out your team not being able to catch the ball."

Dally pushed Two-Bit away from him "Aww shut up."

3 seconds left. Score is 14-10. Bears are winning. The possession is in the Giants hands. The quarterback through the ball. And the team player catches it! He is running but then it slips. He dropped the ball! The clock goes off! Melly jumped up "YEAHHHHHH WE WON"!
Sodapop cheered "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. Damn they need a write a song like that."

Two-Bit hugged Melly and the Curtis Brothers. "We won! We won! We won"!

They all stopped cheering and looked at the losers. Dally glared at them "We was just going easy. We will see you all next year and actually play" !

Steve replied "I was actually going for the Bears. Just wanted to give Dally some support." He patted Dallys back.

Dally pushed him off "Then gimme back that shirt."

Steve laughed "I was just kidding. Go New York"!

Melly smiled "So. The Bears won. Not a surprise."

" Shut up . "

Melly grinned "Anyways. I made us some cake. Who wants some"?

Again the boys almost trampled her. She served them cake "A little bird told me that you guys liked chocolate cake."

They all nodded.

Melly continued "And beer" !

They all started cheering and she handed them all some beer. "Now I'm not gonna drink any because, you guys know what happens."

She laughed at Steve's smeared face. In the living room Johnny and Ponyboy were hanging out reading books from her father's library. Darry was looking at her dad's sport cards collection. Dally was playing a knife game with Two-Bit. The objective was to stab as many knives between your fingers before it actually reached your skin. Sodapop and her were at the table.

"Melly you changed the whole entire gang."

" No I didn't. They look like they do this all the time. "

"But money is included."

Melly shook her head "Money doesn't buy happiness."

Sodapop nodded "Your right but it does when I'm with you."
