Melanie stumbled over her dress and she had gotten caught on the fence. She started to tug on the dress to get it off the fence. Bob grabbed her and slapped her "You should've listened."

Melly glared at him "No you should have."

She picked up a pile of dirt and threw it in his face . Then she grabbed Bob's switch and cut the dress of the fence. She started to run again and she heard pounding feet behind her. She did a quick turn and started climbing the nearest tree. She trembled as she climbed it but the SOC boys ran right pass her.

She heard Bob's angry voice "Where is that Bitch"?!

Melanie climbed higher into the tree and jumped into the roof of the house. She ran across and slid down the posts. She started running again but she ran into Dally once again.

Dally smirked "Back so soon"?

Melanie shoved him "Go. There are too many SOCS! They will kill you"!

Dally saw the SOCS and started to run. Melly took off after him and then shoved him into they alley. "Don't make a noise."

Dally whispered "Have you planned this"?

Melanie shook her head "Of course not. You think I expected to get jumped by my own gang"?

There was a voice behind them "Dally and Melly? What are you doing here"?

Melanie spun around and saw Sodapop. She ran into his arms and kissed his cheek "Oh thank goodness. You are back. I am so sorry for what I said."

Sodapop hugged her "What is going on"?

Melly held a finger to her mouth "Shh. The SOCS. They started ganging up on me." She whispered.

Sodapop nodded and looked out and quietly muttered "Were surrounded."

Melly went pale "It's all my fault. I got in a fight with Bob when he came over for dinner."

Sodapop questioned her "Why did he come over for dinner"?

Melanie looked at him "He is my cousin. From my mom's side."

Dally starred at her in disbelief "Your related to that idiot" !

Melanie shushed him "Yes. But I am not proud of it."

Dally crossed his arms "I wouldn't be proud of it either."

Sodapop pointed to the tunnel "We will have to go through there."

Melly looked down "I can't. I'm in a dress."

" And"?

Melanie continued "And I don't have shorts under."

" Than you can go last. " hissed Dally.

Melly glared at him "Fine. I will go last. Let's go."

Melanie crawled behind the other boys and kept turning around because she felt as if they were being followed. Suddenly something started dragging on her dress. Melly slipped and fell flat on her face. She turned around and saw a SOC pulling her out. Melly pulled forward but the SOC had good grip on her dress and ended up pulling her closer to him. Melanie then whisper yelled to the boys "Help me"!

Sodapop turned around and grabbed her hand and tugged. The SOC pulled harder and Melly felt that she was going to be torn apart. She took off her shoe and chucked it at the SOCS face. The SOC went for his face and Melly grabbed her shoe and started crawling as fast as she could. They made it out of the tunnel and Melly said "We will hide at my house"!

Neither of the boys disagreed and they followed Melly. Melly climbed the tree and went into her window. They boys followed. She quickly locked the window and closed the curtains.

Sodapop was in shock when he saw Mellys room. It had a balcony and it was bigger than the size of the living room and the kitchen out together.

Melly turned on the lights and said "Welcome to my room."

Dally was just as stunned as Sodapop. "You mean this is up your room."

Melly nodded "Well this is the biggest mansion in town."

" This place is beautiful. "

Melly smiled "Thanks. Uh you guys want anything to drink? Other than beer"?

Dally replied "I don't know man. Beer has always been my number one choice."

Melly nodded "I will get you a coke. How about you Sodapop"?

" I will take a coke too. "

Melanie started walking downstairs to bring in the drinks. Meanwhile the two boys chatted.

"Man you have to marry her. Look what you would have."

Sodapop shook his head "I'm not with her for money."

" Yeah, but I mean. Look at what you could have. "

Sodapop sighed "Dally, you are probably gonna fake nice with just so she can spoil you."

Dally nodded "Seems like a plan."

Melly listened by the door and she looked down. Just like the SOCS, Dally only was going to hand out with her for money. Melly walked down the hall and changed out of her dress into a baby blue skirt and a plum colored blouse. Then she grabbed the Cokes and came in the room.

"Here's the drinks." She stubbornly handed the soda to Dally.

Dally took it without noticing a thing and then Melly say down next to Sodapop.

"So when are you two expecting on leaving" ?

Dally cleared his throat "Look if you want us to go, then just tell us."

Melly shook her head "No you can stay. I just sign want you guys to stay too late when Bob makes his rounds around the neighborhood.

Sodapop nodded "We will leave in 10."

Dally glared at Sodapop. He thought to himself "How could Sodapop want to leave so soon. This was as close to fancy they were gonna get. Eventually he realized something was up with Mel and he apologized.

Melly forgave him and explained why she got so upset.

Dally felt a little guilt afterwards. "I'm sorry Mel. If I would have known."

After 10 minutes, the boys are gone. Melanie kind of missed them. She brushed her hair out and realized that the picture of Big and her was gone. Did Dally or Sodapop grab it?! Melanie was so dead. She needed that picture and someone took it.
