Jaka was too angry all the time. Or was I too impatient? Was it both? All three of us walked quietly back to the canyon. The sun was down, the stars sparkles in the sky and we could hear cricket and the wind blowing softly. It was quiet for the most part until Iyo spoke. "Why did you do that?"

"There was nothing they could do, I had it under control!" I barked sharply at him.

"I only asked a question." There was a mocking tone behind his voice and I instantly felt guilty. That exactly what happened what Jaka. He was angry and took it as an insult.

I whimpered softly and Iyo fell in step with me. "If you did that, Nakato would send you back."

"I know." I said like a disobedient cub getting talking to by a parent. There was a pause. "Beside, he said you were my mate." I laughed. "That's the most insulting thing you could say."

"That's not THAT bad." He chuckled. "You could do worse." He pressed against me for the briefest of seconds. "Thank you so much for taking us to see Mother— I mean Abena."

I smiled. "Of course. Anything for you."
