There is something strange and intriguing about a human being who does not show emotion. They are treated as if they are broken. That is because, when it comes to humans and how they are, a human without emotion is in a way... broken. Aistel La Toru is a broken human. She was always different. Her mother can attest to that fact. Even as a baby, she didn't cry as much as other babies. She never smiled when she was awake. Her parents have many pictures of her smiling in her sleep. It's almost as if her true self would shine through when she was asleep.

"There has to be something wrong with our daughter!" Her mother, Moreen, said to the therapist that had been working with them ever since Aistel was a toddler. It was believed that she could be an autistic child, but after numerous testing they realized she was not on the spectrum. This made her doctor's job even harder than before as now he had to figure out how to understand her. This was not an easy task as Aistel seemed to only want to interact with her parents only when she was in need of anything.

Her father, Patrick, was biting his nails and staring out of the window. He had always felt like a failure when it came to Aistel. He loved his only daughter but wished she was normal. "There has to be some way to teach her to at least ACT normal when around people. I have seen her attempt to do it, but it always looks robotic. Maybe... Maybe we should teach her how to pretend to be... HUMAN." He said, sounding defeated.

Moreen gasped and pushed her husband away from her. "That would be WORSE. We have to at least attempt to get her the help or medication she needs!" She said, sounding desperate.

"I refuse to pump her full of drugs! She isn't even on the spectrum and she isn't violent towards anyone unless provoked. As her mother, how could you even suggest drugging her?" Patrick said.

Moreen just placed her face in her hands and cried. All she wanted was a normal little girl. Not Aistel. She even felt regret for having her.

Aistel knew of her parents' disappointment in her, but it didn't bother her. She did not find them interesting nor cared for them. All she could do was entertain them to receive what she needed. She wasn't sure why, but something deep in her loathed them.

Over the next couple of years, Aistel learned, in her own way, how to communicate with other people. Her parents and her therapist came to the conclusion that her personality was the way it was due to her "gyft". There had always been special gifted humans but in the last 100 years, other races had made themselves known to humans. The Fae, was a large umbrella term that the majority of the races fell under. From Fairies, Nymphs and even Dwarfs, the Fae make up roughly 15% of the world's population.

The next group was the second largest, but they only made up about 9% of the world's population. This group is Werewolves or as they preferred to be called, Lycan's. The following group was frightening to the average human but they were nothing like the novels and movies. They preferred to be called Vampyre. They disliked the way the media has portrayed their kind over the last 200 or so years. Many human writers even came out and apologized for the offensive material.

Aistel's lack of empathy and sympathy isn't just reserved for humans. She naturally does not care for the majority of higher life forms. She adores animals and other small creatures. She has raised multiple stray animals, saved even more. She has been volunteering at local animal shelters the moment she was of legal age. She just has a dislike for all sentient life forms.

Aistel was lying in the garden of her parent's house. It was a beautiful spring day, and all she wanted to do was relax on her day off. The family dog, Mari, was lying next to her, also relaxing. The dog loved whenever Aistel was home and relaxing. Even though she lived in the basement of her parent's house, she usually stayed in the city at her best friend's apartment. She honestly did this to be closer to her job which was also in the city and also to get away from her parents.
