Tons had wanted to go with Aistel and Irene, but Irene set it up so he wouldn't be able to come. She deliberately told him the wrong time, so he had scheduled a work conference call when they needed to be at the café. Goddamnit Irene. She knew how much I wanted to be there to make sure that bastard was respectful. Stuck in this shitty meeting. He thought angrily to himself.
Martin had also stayed behind to make sure Tons didn't run off to the café and interrupt the meeting. He is going to cuss Ire out when she gets back. I should try to take most of the blame. The things I do for her. Martin thought sheepishly as he watched tons.
"Fuck off" Tons mouthed to him. It was almost as if Tons knew he was going to try to take the blame.
Tons meeting ended, and he closed the laptop before throwing it on the couch next to him. He was clearly in a foul mood, but suddenly looked excited when his phone lit up. "Hmph. Looks like the meeting is over. Aistel and Irene sent me a selfie." He said showing Martin the picture. Irene looked happy and was smiling brightly, while Aistel looked distant. It wa show she always looked in pictures. She also never looked directly into the camera.
Martin smiled at the picture. "How does she take such amazing pictures for someone who hates them so much? Aistel should have been a model." He said.
Tons quickly pulled the phone away and gave Matin a dirty look. "She hates being around too many people. To her, modeling would be a horrible experience. I would hate for her to be doing something she hated." Tons said, looking back at a picture he had of Aistel that was sitting on a table.
"Damn. You really do love her. More than I thought. I remember when we were in college together and all those girls would hit on you and you would ignore them. I thought you were stupid for that." Martin chuckled as he threw himself into a chair. "Guess you weren't. Wait... Are you a virgin?" He asked.
"What? no. I did date other people. I really wanted to get over Aistel. I can't. She is the only one for me, and I'm fine with that." Tons said.
"Even if she falls for someone else?"
"... Yea."
"Oh, you are better than me. I'd do everything to make her mine."
"I tried to Martin. It's not that easy with her. Plus, there nothing wrong with loving someone from a distance." Tons remarked.
"It's a little pathetic though, Tons. You could be with any woman you want, but yet here you are. Focused on this one girl who has the emotional capacity of a rock." Martin said. He had grown tired of the one-sided love between Tons and Aistel.
"Martin... You think i enjoyed finding out you asked out my cousin behind my back, AFTER I told you not to?! Let's not talk about pathetic here." Tons shot back.
Martin wanted to protest but decided not to. It was true. He had asked Tons about Irene a few months prior to asking her out. Due to his womanizing ways, Tons told Martin to stay away from his cousin. He didn't listen, and Tons threatened to break his neck if he used Irene.
The two men sat in silence for what felt like forever until Tons' phone rang. His face lighting up caused Martin to roll his eyes. "Better answer before Aistel gives up." He said, slightly annoyed.
Tons ignored him and answered it. "Hey Angel. How did it go?"
"Well, I'm getting $10k. $5k before and then the rest after. So I have no choice but to go. I need to pack because he wants to head off in two days. Apparently it starts in 4 days. Who knew?" Said a nonchalant Aistel.
"Thats really sudden. Thats completely ridiculous. How can you possibly be packed and ready to go in two days? You'll need at least 3 real fancy dresses!" Tons said.
"Cuz, this is Aistel we are talking about. Everything fits her amazingly, and she isn't too picky about what to wear. She'll be fine. We are actually headed to Acy's right now!" Said a thrilled Irene.
"Ok I'll meet you guys over there. The one on 34th, right?" Tons said as he grabbed his shoes to put them on.
"No, don't bother to come. The Fae and his brother will assist me on getting the proper dresses so I don't offend the council. We'll be back in like 6 hours. Later." Said Aistel, hanging up before Tons could protest.
He dropped his shoes angrily back on the floor and threw his phone down. Martin pretended to not notice and just sat in silence staring at his phone, texting Irene. 'Geez, why didn't you stop her? He's pissed off!' He texted Irene.
'I tried but she hung up so fast I couldn't do anything. Just don't bring it up. I'll make her try on the dresses for him later. Ugh." Irene had texted him.
Martin felt bad for his friend but decided he shouldn't say anything. Best not to poke the anger, powerful beast when it's pissed. He thought to himself, watching an anger Tons storm off into the bathroom.
Later that evening, Irene and Aistel arrived carrying several large bags. Though still annoyed with being pushed aside, Tons walked over to them to help. He grabbed the bags and plopped them down on the ground next to the couch.
"Tons relax. So I couldn't help myself and I brought a few things even though I know I should. I totally need to go through all my old clothes to make some room." Irene said, trying to lighten the mood.
Aistel also noticed Tons' annoyance but figured it was Martin's fault. "What did you do now?" She asked Martin.
Tons snapped at her. "He didn't do anything, Aistel. Anyway, how was shopping with the Faes?"
Irene could sense the tension and tried to ease it. "It was lackluster. I figured they would have at least paid for something. They made us pay for it ourselves. Aistel seems to always find her style, size and color in the discount area... I however... Had to spend a pretty penny." She said laughing at her receipt.
"I hope you didn't max out that card... again." Groaned Martin.
"I didn't. Thank you so much for not believing in me, babe. I didn't but a ton load of clothes, but enough to switch up my style." Irene said annoyed with Martin.
Aistel pulled out a long silver and white dress that sparkled in the light. It was low cut with a plunging back. They covered the hem of the dress in what looked like crystals. Aistel decided to try it on to show Tons. Maybe this will cheer him up. She thought to herself.
Tons was still annoyed but was slowly feeling better knowing Castien didn't pay for anything and that Aistel was back at his place. When she walked out of the bedroom wearing her white and silver dress, his jaw dropped. "Aistel... you look amazing!" He exclaimed loudly, frightening Irene and Martin.
Aistel felt a flutter in her stomach when he said this to her. She simply twirled in front of him to show off the dress better. Tons had completely forgotten his anger, and suddenly the pair were twirling around each other. Martin and Irene rolled their eyes and turned their back on them. Tons and Aistel didn't care. It was a strange feeling for Aistel but she knew she liked this. Twirling in Tons' arms, dancing to random music. It was as if they were in their own little world. Away from the others. Aistel pleased that tons' was no longer angry and Tons excited to be with the one he loved.
