Aistel had tried calling Ire a few times before she gave up and left a voicemail. She was sitting on the pier with Castien watching the ferries sail back and forth. "She isn't answering. She may be asleep." She said pushing the phone back into her shoulder bag.
"It's noon. Why would she be asleep?" Castien asked as he handed Aistel a drink. He sat down next to her. Close to her. He then placed his arm around her. "Does she enjoy sleeping in?"
Aisti stood up, gently shrugging off his arm. Much to his displeasure. She pulled her hair out of its ponytail and started fixing it again. As she stood in front of him, Castien studied her. Her shape, skin. All of it was exciting for him.
"Irene will call back when she feels like it. It's her day off. So yea she will sleep in. She normally works ten to twelve hours." Aistel said, staring off into space.
"Ah such a hard worker she is. What does she do again? She is a nurse, right?"
"Yup. All day she deals with sick kids and their idiot parents." Castien laughed. He was gazing at her. I wonder what she would do if I tried to steal a kiss from her. Probably break a few bones. Best not try that. He thought with shame. He was shocked he even thought of kissing her without her permission.
Aistel noticed a Fae girl staring at her. She avoided making eye contact with her. Ugh. What could she want? She thought, annoyed with the situation.
The fae girl had been watching them both and was eyeing Castien. Finally she walked over to him and sat next to him. "Hello Castien. It is wonderful to see you again." She said with a grin.
Castien seemed taken aback with her appearance. "Madeline? Why are you here?" He asked as he stood up.
Aistel turned and looked at Madeline. She was about Aistel's height, but thin. Supermodel thin. Her skin was the color of porcelain and her eyes were large and blue with no iris'. Her hair was long and black. It was also pin straight. She wasn't beautiful in Aisti's eyes but was okay to look at.
Madeline smiled at Aisti. "So you must be Aistel? The beautiful yet dangerous girl those three were telling everyone about. Seems Tori is quite into you. Normally men hate women stronger than them."
Aistel grew uncomfortable in Madeline's presence. She turned away and began to walk off when Castien grabbed her shoulder. "You must stay by my side till we reach the summit of Till. Once we are there, I'll take you to the hotel you will be staying in. You can easily get lost. With all the non-humans on this island at the moment, it isn't safe for you to wander around." He said with a stern voice.
Aistel let out a groan. She grabbed Castien's arm and dragged him away from Madeline, who shot him a dirty look. He ignored the look and accompanied Aistel. Her dragging him was fun.
Once they had gotten out of sight of Madeline, Aistel turned to him. "Who is she?" "Oh Madeline? A friend. She is older than me. She is about 1000 years old. She is a little weird for a Fae, but she isn't that bad. Did you get a bad vibe off of her?" Castien asked as he tilted his head to look Aistel in the eyes.
Aistel looked away from his gaze. Ever since she allowed him to hug her, he had gazed at her like Tons would. They were also standing very close together. So close she could hear his heart beating. It had gotten faster since they stood there. "She seems.... Mean."
"She can be. She doesn't get along with many folks here. Her parents were killed by their own experiments. She witnessed the entire thing. It messed her up at a young age." He said.
Others would have felt sorry for her. They would have pitied her for witnessing such a horrific thing. Aisti, on the other hand, didn't care about that. She was annoyed by that Fae's presence. That woman had made her uneasy and uncomfortable. Something that rarely, if ever, happened to her.
