The tension in the apartment was so thick, you could taste it. Tons was trying his best to change the subject, while Irene was still visibly upset. Aistel, however, was still staring off into space. She either was ignoring them on purpose or something else.
"Do you think she just had a stroke or something?" Martin asked. He was still sitting next to Irene and was trying to comfort her. It wasn't working though.
"Oh, shut up. How could someone as healthy as her randomly have a stroke? She is choosing to ignore us because of my outburst. Maybe I was too harsh... It isn't like I didn't know she had run into him. I heard the entire exchange between them before she hung up." Irene whispered to Martin. She hadn't taken her eyes off on Aistel.
Tons rolled his eyes and walked over to Aistel. He gently placed his hand on her shoulder and lightly shook her, which got her attention. He noticed the tear but decided to it was best to ignore it. "Hey, you ok?" He asked her calmly.
"Yes... No... I don't know. I don't understand why she is so upset. She knows we met up. Why would I have to document us going upstairs to her?" Aistel asked, still confused.
"She just wanted to make sure that guy didn't come back is all. She just wanted to make sure we were both safe." Tons said, trying to cheer her up.
Aistel glanced over towards Irene and then signed. Tons was a bit shocked but just rubbed her shoulders. "I don't get it. I just don't." She said as she rested her head on the counter.
Irene was watching Aistel and felt bad. Maybe I shouldn't have yell at her like that... She just annoys me so much when she ignores the simplest things I ask her to do.
"Didn't ignore you, just figured it was ok since I told you I found Tons. Didn't realize you wanted me to call you once we got in, is all" Aistel said with a clear annoyed tone.
"Ok let's drop this. Nothing good will come of this." Martin said, trying to change the subject. "Plus both of you lovely ladies will be pleased to hear that I got his phone number." He smiled, waving a piece of paper in the air.
"Whose phone number?" Tons reached over and grabbed it out of Martins hand. "Wait... that Fae bastard?! The fuck for?" He turned and glared at Martin.
"Dude, he isn't going to stop. Apparently he's been asking about Aistel all over the place. At her job, at some friends in Queens, hell, he even went to her parent's house! I figured it would be better to just contact him straight up!" Martin said.
"Give it to me. I'll make the call for her." Irene had gotten out her phone as she walked over to Tons. "Plus, I want to talk some shit to the asshole."
Tons handed her the paper. "Irene, please don't make the situation worse though. I get that he is just doing his job but don't make this more difficult for Aistel." Tons said.
Irene rolled her eyes and dialed the number. She sat down on the couch and waited for Castien to answer the phone. After a few failed attempts, she threw down the phone in anger. "Ugh that damn Fae isn't picking up the phone! What a jackass." She yelled angrily.
Aistel was staring at her phone and noticed she had several text messages in her unknown sender file. She looked at the messages and realized it was Castien who had sent them. "How did he get my number?" She asked with a puzzled look.
"How did WHO get your number?" Tons asked, sounding irritated.
"Castien... I'm sure he got it through one of my parents. If he announced to them he comes from the counsel, they will tell him anything. They have spoken to me about this 'meeting' in the past." Aistel said calmly.
Tons was clearly upset at the fact that Castien had her number. "That guy is a slimy bastard. Why would your parents put you in a potentially harmful situation?!" He yelled angrily after throwing a mug in the sink, causing it to break.
"Hey bro, calm down. Its not worth getting all worked up about it. All we have to do is make sure this dude is legit." Martin said, trying to calm down Tons.
Irene was just sitting there with her hand on her chin. I really don't want her to have to deal with this guy by herself. I should definitely be with her and make sure this goes well... probably shouldn't have the guys come with though. Tons may try to hurt him. She thought.
"Alright its ringing. Irene, can you do the talking?" Aistel said as she handed the phone to a shocked Irene.
"Wait, why the hell did you call him?!" Tons said angrily.
Martin held a confused Tons back and just nodded at Irene. She was stunned and kept looking around at everyone until she heard a voice.
"Oh, so have you come to your senses, unknown?" Said a confident Castien.
"No, no, no. Don't get it twisted Fae boy. This is her human friend. The person who was in the car?" Said Irene, already annoyed with the whole phone call.
"Oh, the human... Is she there?" Castien asked.
"Of course, she is right here next to me. Why? What do you want?" Irene asked dryly.
"You know what I want from her human. She needs to accompany me to the Fae court to attend the meeting of the Gyfted. I really need to speak to her. It is imperative that she discuss this with me." Castien said, slowly growing more annoyed by the second.
"Let me speak to him." Said Tons through his teeth.
Martin grabbed Tons and started pushing him towards the door. "Let's take a walk bro. You can't get in the middle of this. You know how important this meeting is. If he wanted, he could go to court and FORCE her to go." Martin said trying to be the voice of reason to Tons.
"Nah, she doesn't want to talk to you. However, she has agreed to go with you, with payment. How does... $10,000 sound?" Irene asked. She was hoping the price would scare Castien away.
"...Fine. I can make half the payment before and the rest after the meeting takes place." Castien said.
Aistel was staring at Irene with a blank expression. She heard her ask for the $10,000 and was fully intrigued with the conversation now. Irene knew speaking about money would get Aistel more interested and would stop Tons from wanting to kill Castien.
"Didn't think you would be so... ok with it. So why don't we set up a meeting? Theres a cafe she loves on 8th. I'll send you the info." Irene said.
"I need to deal with this sooner rather than later. So please send me the information." Castien said before hanging up the phone.
Irene looked at the phone in disgust. "This Fae asshole hung up on me. What a pig." She threw the phone onto the couch and turned to Aistel. "So when do you want to set up the meeting?" She asked Aistel.
"Let's do it tomorrow. The day just started and I'm already drained." Aistel said with a yawn.
Irene was worried about the meeting and even more worried about letting Aistel go to the Fae court with this Fae, alone. She had a knot in her stomach about it.
