SASKIA
Sashyana Kiaundra Nieves

While walking, my nose caught a smell of something, like a wildfire. Then from afar, I can see wisp of smokes twirling up to the clouds. The night sky had a faint beam of red— like fire.

I panic immediately when I realized that the smoke comes from the direction of the other end of the isle, where I told Ajax to go!  I heard cries and clashing of swords that made my heart pound more.

A strange feeling tugs my heart once again. Anxiety. Fear. Fury. Wrath.

It neighed loudly, so I formed a whip made of black and red smoke using my power. I mercilessly whipped the horse several times, ignoring every whimpers it does. The horse tried to wiggle me off, so I gripped his hair and pulled it hard to stop him.

It was severely wounded from my whips. Blood trickled down his body, and his skin got peeled off. It whimpered one last time, but I tore my eyes off the horse.

They were taking our villagers as hostages, but I did not care. I do not care at all. They slit the throats of our men. Maliit akong ngumiti sa hindi malamang dahilan.

Ah, I must be smiling because they are really desparate to see me, huh?

The villagers looked at me with pleading eyes. I could almost hear their voices and pleads inside my head. Ngunit ang iba, nagugulat sa ngiti ko.

Ajax's not here. But it would be a bore to leave these soldiers here, right?

I recognize the snowflake badge on the soldiers' capes that represented the Nieves Kingdom. I remember the meaning of it.

"Everything begins with a snowflake like blizzards and avalanches." To put it simpler, even the most little acts can turn to something enormous and impactful.

Naglibot muli ang tingin ko. My eyes reflected the fire.

My eyes were fixated on a man— down in his knees, crying in fear.

I mentally laughed. My smile turned devilish. Gusto kong matawa. They are looking for a dead person. Princess Sashyana Kiaundra Nieves is dead.

"Walang kwenta ang isang 'to. Hindi nagsasalita!"

"May alam 'yan. Saktan mo lang," one nonchalantly answered.

I looked at the person who said that. Without further ado, I heard the clicking of his bones.

Saktan mo lang, a voice echoed inside me.

Even his intestines were out. He fell to the ground, while his eyes were unresponsive, and in one click of a tongue, his eyes popped out. I smirked, saktan mo lang. I grasped for his heart, my fingers snapped and then his chest bursted, revealing all of his inner organs.

The victim looked at me with gratitude. I'm just annoyed with these soldiers.

"Ang Nieves Princess!" finally one recognized.

Napalingon sa'kin ang iba. I flashed them a smile, "The Nieves Princess is dead. Don't look for her."

Mas lalong lumalakas ang kakaibang pakiramdam sa loob ko, like something is being awakened again. This familiar energy... the energy from ten years ago.

Don't let it overpower you, Saskia, one voice inside me said. But the other one said, Embrace your power.

Tumingin ako sa baba. Gray smoke rose from the ground, some dark energy that I produced.

I looked at him to answer, "Demons."

The smokes choked them. Maybe I'm being overwhelmed by my powers.

More phantoms and demons rose from below. From hell. Tumaas ang aking baba habang tinitingnan sila. I warned them, yet here they are. Are they perhaps chasing death?

"Possess them all," I commanded to the demons. I smiled devilishly when the demons answered in chorus, "Yes, Queen."

Their irises all turned to black.

The possessed men killed themselves.

Blades slashed, intersecting wrists and forearms, slashed some more, cutting through hamstrings and other assorted, necessary tendons. Another shrieked as something kissed its belly and it looked down to see its intestines tumbling out—withered, empty things, like starving worms.

Cries of rising bloodlust shrilled from their throats— a frenzied chorus that could curdle a lump of tallow, then set it quivering. The sight of blood and gore overwhelmed my demon that has taken over me.

I cocked my head sidewards to stifle a smirk afterwards.

Now, it's time to escape.
