At that point, we had probably scarred Captain Levi's mind for all eternity. I made an attempt to get up and show some decency. However, my trembling legs, due to various reasons, betrayed me, and the result is a barely stifled moan when my inner walls are met once again with Erwin's still hard manhood. This was it. This was the day I would die. Captain Levi would gladly murder me with his own two hands. At least I led a good life, for the most part.

"Levi, would you mind leaving us for a bit?" The smirk on Erwin's face was growing wider. Curse him for enjoying this! I covered my face with my hands, hit with another wave of embarrassment.

"Gladly..."

I didn't even need to see the captain's expression. I could tell when he rolled his eyes only by the tone of his voice. At least we were finally alone. I looked at Erwin once more, only to be met with the playful spark in his eyes. The irritation in my voice was more than obvious. "You seem to be enjoying yourself, Commander." I used his title on purpose, but he ignored my provocation.

"Why wouldn't I be? A cute girl is sitting on my lap, not to mention she isn't wearing any panties and..."

"Yes, yes, I get it!"

His deep laugh filled the room. His lips took on their reserved space, right between mine. A familiar warm sensation took hold of my whole being. I will never get tired of this feeling of completion. All remnants of embarrassment were long forgotten, in some distant corner of my mind. I wanted to scream; the words were right there, at the tip of my right now busy tongue. They were like hungry animals in a cage, struggling with the need to break free from their confines. 'I love you', 'I love you', 'I love you', I repeated constantly in my mind to relieve some of the pressure. The actual words inevitably escaped my lips not long after.

The silence was deafening, leaving enough room for anxiety to creep out its ugly mug. I had to say something; I NEEDED to. "You don't have to answer me..."

Erwin took a much-needed deep breath, it seemed. "I love you as well... How could I not?"

'Bye, bye, anxiety. No one needs you; don't you dare visit me again!' Damn it, I was about to cry again. I pressed my face against Erwin's bare chest, which ended up getting wet with the salty drops of my relief. This was it. This was what complete happiness felt like. Nothing else in the world mattered. I wouldn't mind dying at this very moment. But this wasn't how stories usually ended, was it?

"Captain Levi..."

Erwin cut me off, guessing what I was about to say. "Levi is only one man. Half a man, to be exact."

Against my better judgment, I laughed at his joke. "You wouldn't want him to hear that."

"Yeah, you're right. I can't really do anything, though, in the position I'm in." His expectant eyes studied the part where we were still connected.

"Ah, sorry about that; I'll get up this instant."

"No need to hurry. I'm quite comfortable like this."

"Oh, I don't doubt that." The playfulness in my voice was back. "You damn pervert!" I couldn't help but point out the obvious.

"May I remind you, my dear, that you're the one who got on top of me in the first place?"

"Details, details..." No way was I giving him this victory. I frantically searched for my panties and quickly slid them up my legs.

"I think you're forgetting something."

My mind instantly started a detailed search in its records, even before I asked the obvious question. "What do you mean?"

Erwin tapped on the small box on the bedside table. Oh! That's right! I swiftly grabbed the box and took out the ring, meant for him. His expression was one of agreement, so I didn't hesitate long. I slowly slid the metallic circle onto his ring finger. I made a promise to myself, right then and there, to buy a better pair of rings once I got the chance.

"Yaaay, the size fits perfectly!" I was overwhelmed with pride.

"Now it's my turn." Erwin took hold of the other ring and asked me to extend my hand. Once I did so, he repeated the same ritual, a smile painted on his features. I felt all tingly inside, like my intestines were filled with hot air. I took his hand in mine, both rings rubbing against each other. It felt so natural. The small ceremony is concluded with a kiss—an exemplary illustration of what romance should look like. Of course, you wouldn't usually do it right after sex and while your partner was still pretty much naked, not to mention sticky from the waist down. Details, details. Important ones, though!

"Would you like me to help you...take a shower?" I attempted to sound as polite as possible, so he wouldn't take my words the wrong way. I was walking on thin ice here.

"No, I'm perfectly capable of washing my body, Desi."

He hid it behind a smile, but I sensed his pride was a bit hurt—exactly what I was trying to avoid. This situation would require a lot of getting used to on both sides. So, I did what I do best in such situations—fawn the hell out of this silly man.

"I am very sorry. I should never have questioned the skills of the commander of the survey corps. How silly of me! I repent for my inexcusable mistake." And now for the cherry on top! "Who knows, maybe it was the desire to get my hands all over that sexy body of yours."

"Nice try, my dear." Thank God, he was smiling normally again. I guessed my little show did the trick. "You don't need to go to such lengths. I simply want to do this on my own, that's all."

"I understand." I really do. "I'll leave you to it then. I'll be outside if you need something."

"Alright."

I stole a brief kiss on my way out. My own body was dying for a quick shower, but I would have to postpone it a bit. Outside of the room, I was met with Captain Levi. Had he been out here all this time?? And why was I even surprised at this point? I felt like he'd taken the very serious role of watching over us and what we did VERY carefully. I honestly didn't know if that was reassuring or scary. For my own peace of mind, I voted for reassuring...for now.

"Finally done, I see." The Captain studied me from head to toe. I wished there was a rock I could crawl under. "If memory serves me right, you still have to train up the mountain with Hanji and Eren."

'You're the one who made me see Erwin!' my inner self screamed.

"Y-yes, of course, Captain! I'll be on my way!"

Guess it was back to the isolation up the mountain. I let out a deep sigh, but there was nothing I could do about this situation. The one-month preparation, given to us by Zachary Dhalis, was still not over. The hard part was yet to come, and it would literally decide whether we'd have a future...or not. There was no room for anything else right now, not even Erwin. I could keep my mind solely focused on the issue at hand. No, it wasn't a question of whether I could; I must.
