"This is actually quite delicious!" I grabbed another bite from the plate in front of me.
"Nah, you just think it is 'cause you were quite hungry." Jean answered while studying me as I practically stuffed my face. I was not one who enjoyed being watched while I ate, but strangely, it didn't seem to bother me. "Would you like my share as well?" Jean asked in amusement.
"No, thank you!" I answered when my mouth was finally empty. "I am not THAT hungry."
"Haha, alright. Let me go grab some water."
"Okay, Jean." I sat back, happy and full.
---
When Jean stood up from his spot, he spotted a pair of blue eyes and short blonde hair right outside the slightly open door. He calmly walked toward the older man, an amused smile plastered all over his face.
"Good evening, Commander. What brings you here at this hour?" Jean, of course, knew the answer all too well, but he had no plans to cut his fun short. Chances like this didn't come often. For some reason, the commander looked a bit uncomfortable, blushing even. 'You're making this way too easy, old man.', Jean thought.
"I'm here..." Erwin Smith cleared his throat. "to see Desi."
"And here I thought you had some important business." Jean teased.
"It IS important." The commander's answer was calm but firm. The sudden seriousness in his voice caused Jean's smile to melt off.
"So I see. I'll go and tell her."
"That would be great, thank you."
The stoic, businesslike atmosphere between the two was bound to remain like this indefinitely.
Before walking away, Jean leaned in and whispered one last thing in Erwin Smith's ear. "I'll never admit defeat, old man."
The commander didn't even flinch.
---
"Someone's here to see you." Jean whispered in my ear out of nowhere.
"What? Who?"
"Your D a d d y."
My body trembled involuntarily. "What the hell, Jean?!" My ears turned red all over. I punched him in the stomach, a bit harder than I probably should have. I, of course, immediately felt guilty for doing so, but, in my defense, it was his own fault! "That's what you get for being a big dummy!" I exclaimed, half embarrassed, half angry, before leaving the room.
---
"Desi, why are you all red?"
"Jean and his stupid jokes!" I grabbed Erwin's arm, and he had no choice but to be dragged along.
---
A shadow seemed to flit across Erwin Smith's face.
"Desi, that boy, does he perhaps..."
"Hmm?" She asked without turning around.
"No, it's nothing."
---
"Ahh, I hate this horrible weather!" I exclaimed as we finally reached our destination. I was the only one who knew this was our destination, though. I spun around on my tiptoes and practically smothered Erwin with a hug. He didn't complain and also wrapped an arm around me. "You smell so good." I took in the strong, manly scent.
Erwin chuckled. "I highly doubt that. I haven't washed myself yet."
"In fact, you always smell good."
